What is a COMMUNITY FOOD GROWING HUB Volunteer?

The aim of the community food growing hub is to provide a place where individuals, families, community groups and schools visit to gain new skills. As a volunteer with the food growing hub you will have the opportunity to empower local people to improve their quality of life, and to get involved with projects and activities at the Food Hub. The projects that you will help to support will tackle the key local problems, like childhood obesity, unhealthy eating habits and lack of access to fresh and healthy produce.

What’s involved?

·  Working face to face with people of all ages, abilities and cultures from the local area.

·  Working together with other community organizations

·  Supporting local people to build relationships with the Food Hub

·  Creating long term projects, which allow hard to reach groups grow fresh food

·  Learn how to secure funding to ensure worthwhile projects last.

This role will suit people who

-  Good organizational skills

-  Don’t mind working alone and using own initiative

-  Enjoy being outdoors, and taking part in physical tasks

-  Are able to commit to the same days each week

Who we are looking for?

Someone who is enthusiastic, committed and has a genuine passion for helping others. This volunteering opportunity would be ideal for local people, students, retired people and young people who want to learn new skills and meet new people.

Expenses / Out-of-pocket travel costs between home and volunteering place will be paid up to a maximum of £4 per day, and other reasonable expenses agreed in advance

Requirements A Criminal Records Bureau check will be required for volunteers undertaking this role.

In the second stage of the volunteer recruitment process we will ask you to provide two references.
