ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM

2010-11 GOALS AND CRITERIA

The Chrysalis Foundation will award up to $1,000 to elementary school programs for the 2010-11 fiscal year. Program facilitators may participate in staff development activities offered by the Chrysalis Foundation for additional training.

This year, a new Chrysalis staff member will assist with staff development and program management activities. Brooke Findley, Director of Policy and Programs, will represent Chrysalis and be available to all programs as a staff liaison. Feel free to contact Brooke at any time: .

Elementary groups will serve 4th and 5th grade girls with goals to develop:

LEADERSHIP – accountability, communication, ethics, people skills, social responsibility

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT - critical thinking, financial literacy, personal responsibility, self-direction

RESILIENCE – health and wellness, problem-solving, creativity, adaptability

CONNECTEDNESS – global awareness, collaboration, teamwork, school and community involvement

Elementary programs must:

·  meet weekly

·  begin group meetings by the week of September 20

·  be school-linked or school-based

·  maintain student to staff ratio no greater than 15 to 1

·  cooperate with Chrysalis program evaluation process

·  participate with girls in HerStory Annual After-School Celebration (spring 2011)

1.  How will you implement program components of leadership, economic empowerment, and resilience (25 points)?

2.  Describe the economic, ethnic, and racial characteristics of the girls you will serve (10 points).

3.  What other after-school or extracurricular programs or activities are available to the girls you will serve (10 points)?

4.  Describe your program structure (5 points).
