In an endeavor to continually assist caregivers in their search for pertinent information regarding eldercare, our Information and Referral Specialists address topics of most frequently asked questions via Caregiver’s Answers, Topics and Helpful Information (CATHI). Additionally, caregivers are also invited to e-mail individual questions and an Information and Referral Specialist will reply.

Question: What services does Senior Resources of Guilford offer to me as a caregiver, and my loved one I am caring for?
Answer: Senior Resources of Guilford has many great resources available to not only seniors but also to caregivers. Listed below are some of the most requested services for caregivers.
Family Caregiver Support Program
- Provides information and referrals to caregivers on resources such as support groups, respite care, and educational events.
- The Program Coordinator can meet with caregivers either at Senior Resources of Guilford or in the caregiver’s home to discuss resources that may be of assistance to the caregiver.
SeniorLine Information and Referral Service
- A telephone based service that provides information about various community resources that will help meet basic needs.
- Referrals can be given out to resources for housing, transportation, nutrition, employment, medical insurance, volunteer opportunities, housing modifications or repairs, legal services, and a wide variety of other resources.
- SeniorLine is available to anyone needing information.
Senior Wheels Medical Transportation
- Provides non-emergency transportation to and from medical appointments to seniors age 55 and older.
- Appointments must be at a doctor’s office or medical facility on a weekday between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.
- Seniors can request one round trip ride per week and a companion may accompany them.
- Senior Wheels is offered on a first come first serve basis. Requests for transportation must be submitted at least one week in advance.
- This service assists caregivers in that they no longer have to take off from work to take their loved one to medical appointments.
Mobile Meals
- This program is available to seniors age 60 and older who are unable to cook for themselves, have no one assisting them with cooking during the day, and do not drive meaning they are unable to leave their home to pick up food.
- Meals are delivered Monday-Friday usually between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm by volunteers.
- The Mobile Meals volunteers also complete a wellness check when delivering the meal to ensure the recipient is doing okay.
- This service is provided at no cost to participants with donations gratefully accepted.
Greensboro Senior Center
- Open to seniors for several hours each day, Monday-Friday, who are able to provide care to themselves (toileting, eating, ambulating, etc.)
- Senior center activities include educational presentations, health screenings, field trips, and various other recreational activities.
- Allows the senior to interact with other seniors and get out of the house for a few hours each day.
- Provides the caregiver with respite so they can run errands, tend to other responsibilities, or take a much needed break.
