Week Without Violence Essay Contest

Fifth Annual Peace Essay Contest. The purpose of the Peace Essay Contest is to encourage students to explore peaceful solutions to conflicts, raise awareness of conflict situations, strengthen students’ critical thinking and writing skills in addressing violence, look at ways students can be proactive in pursuing alternatives to violence, and encourage youth leadership and responsibility.
·  Eligibility: High schools students in grades 9-12 within McLean County
·  Cash prizes will be given for both categories: Peace on State and Local Issues and Peace on National and International Issues.
·  Deadline: 4:00pm September 29, 2006
·  Winners will be notified by October 13, 2006
·  Cash prizes will be awarded at the YWCA Week Without Violence luncheon on October 20.
