Activities
1. / Draw a staircase with at least eight steps in your students’ opus. Let them draw a picture of whom the kiss went to and the name of the animal on each step. The first step should be Hen and the last should be Little Bear.
2. / Use words from the story and put them in an envelope to build sentences. Scramble sentences up and let the child unscramble them.
3. / Draw a picture and write a short letter to your grandma. Put it in an envelope and seal it with a kiss.
4. / Write about your favorite part of the book.
Introductions
1. / Show a picture of Hen and Little Bear. What are they doing? What do you think they are talking about? Are they friends?
2. / Draw a picture and put it in an envelope addressed to your grandmother. Discuss with the children how the letter will get to grandmother. Will you take it to her? Will someone else take it to her? Will you put it in the mail? “Today we are going to read a story about a bear and how he will get his picture to his grandmother.”
3. / Show the students the cover of the book. Ask them to guess what the story will be about.
