Tony Clement Joins Faculty of Law,
University of Toronto, as Visiting Fellow

Toronto, ON—Tony Clement (class of '86), Former Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Province of Ontario, has joined the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto as a Visiting Fellow.Mr. Clement will begin teaching in January 2004 in the areas of health care, politics and public policy.

"It’s an honour to have former students,who have gone on to distinguished careers, come back to the law faculty to share their experiences and knowledge," says Brian Langille, Acting Dean. "Tony Clement’s experiences as health minister placed him at the centre of one of the country’s most important debates in the aftermath of the SARS crisis. Both faculty and students have a lot to learn from him and he will be a wonderful addition to our program in health lawand policy."

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Clement will continue speaking at government and private sectorconferences on health care issues.

Mr. Clement joins a team of internationally regarded health law scholars as part of the U of TFaculty of Law’sHealth Law and Policy Group, comprised ofprofessors Sujit Choudhry, Rebecca Cook, Bernard Dickens, Colleen Flood, and Trudo Lemmens. This group has expertise in bioethics, constitutional law, drug regulation, end-of-life issues, genetics, health systems and insurance, human rights law, reproductive and sexual health law, and research ethics and research regulation.
