TEAM GUIDELINES & EXPECTATIONS
RESPECT
1. Coaches - Respect them as you would respect your classroom teachers.
- Mr. or Coach is the manner in which you should address them.
2. Teammates - You are now part of a “team”, encourage one another, always pick each other up, we win or lose together.
3. Opponents - Be respectful to the opposing team, be a class act, represent your town and school in the right fashion.
4. Referees - Respect the referees calls and judgments, you are not going to change them.
- Negative remarks and/or body language will not be tolerated.
- A coach is the only person who will voice an opinion with a referee.
BEHAVIOR
1. School - One individual’s actions reflect the entire team, coaches included.
- Detention = loss of playing time
- Suspensions = missed games (1 day = 1 game, 2 days = 2 games, etc.)
2. Bus - Please be seated at all times, your safety is our main concern.
- No or eating/drinking at any time without coaches permission.
3. Game - Appropriate cheering and bench conduct, we expect a display of good sportsmanship at all times.
PRACTICE
1. Locker Room - When practicing at Memorial, you will report to Coach Reed’s room immediately after homeroom. He will escort you the locker room.
2. Haines - When practicing at Haines, you will report to Coach Reed’s room immediately after homeroom. He will escort you the locker room, then to Haines. All players must wear either a sweatshirt or jacket when walking between the schools and must bring all of their belongings with them (i.e. backpacks, text books, clothing, etc.)
3. Tardiness - If arriving late to practice you must have a pass/note from a teacher or parent/guardian.
4. Absent - Please leave a voice message with one of your coaches if you will be absent for any reason (numbers listed below).
5. PLYP - Practice Like You Play, always hustle and give maximum effort.
RESPONSIBILITY
1. Teams - The school team comes before any rec/travel/AAU team.
2. Health - Take good care of your body; if you are injured in any way please let a coach know immediately.
- Any player with asthma and/or severe allergies must have their inhaler and/or EpiPen with them at all times (i.e. meetings, practices, games).
- Please report all allergies and medical concerns to the coaches ASAP.
3. Equipment - Have shorts, tee shirts, practice jerseys, sweatshirts, and proper sneakers ready for each practice.
4. Uniform - Be sure to have all the proper uniform parts with you on game days.
MISCELLANEOUS
1. Hustle - Everyone jogs on and off the court during practices and games.
2. Bench - Everyone cheers for the team and focuses ONLY on the game.
3. Play Hard - Play the right way; go hard for all 28 minutes, good things will happen.
