Work will consist of daily assignments, weekly quizzes, unit quizzes, and chapter tests.

Daily work is usually worth the same number of points that there are problems unless changed by the teacher. For example, 15 questions is equivalent to 15 points on the assignment. Weekly quizzes, unit quizzes, and Tests will be graded in similar fashion. Some assessments may be doubled. Example, a 25 question test maybe doubled to make it worth 50 points. Students will be able to correct quizzes and tests for partial credit. I like to give back ½ credits per problem with appropriate work shown. BMS has a weighted grading scale where daily work is 30% of the total overall grade and assessments are 70%.

Students will be receiving assignments often in math class……I usually allow time at the end of every period for students to work and ask questions. Whatever the student doesn’t finish in class is homework and is due the next day, unless otherwise noted by the teacher.

If a student is absent from class he/she will be responsible for getting the assignment that he/she missed and should get the assignment turned in as soon as possible to avoid having missing grades.

Hall Pass: Students will be given a hall pass at the beginning of each 9 week quarter. Each pass allows the student 4 trips to use bathroom, get supplies, etc… If the student losses the pass he/she will not be allowed to leave the room. The student is responsible to keep the pass in a safe and secure place. At the end of the quarter bonus points will be given for each unused portion of the hall pass.

Make-up Work Guidelines:

  1. An assignment is considered late if submitted after the teacher’s established due date.
  2. The highest grade a student may earn on a late assignment is a 70%.
  3. Daily work assignments received two weeks after the teacher’s established due date will not be accepted.

Classroom Conduct:

Be Prepared. Come to class with the necessary materials, including your assignment.

Be Prompt. Be in your seat ready to go when class begins. The school policy on tardies will be enforced.

Be Positive. Respect yourself and others in the classroom at all times. Listen to and support each other. When speaking, you will use only appropriate language.

Math Books:

Math books will be assigned to students this year. Please take care of your book! I would recommend not getting stretchy book covers for your math book as they tend to damage the corners and the spines of the books.
