Dear Friend

Avon and Somerset Police has commissioned an independent review of our recruitment process for Police Officers. We want the public to have a greater say in what makes a good police officer, to help us develop a more effective recruitment process to better reflect the community we serve and to make Avon and Somerset Police more welcoming to people with different backgrounds and skills sets.

Dr Marie-Annick Gournet, our independent consultant, and I, are hosting an event to bring together a number of people from our different communities to ask them to tell us what they want from their local police.

We’d like to hear your views on the behaviours, attitude and services you want from a Police Officer. We’d be delighted if you could join us on Tuesday 26th November from 17:30 to 19:00 to share your views.

The event will be held at:

Burges Salmon Offices,

One Glass Wharf,

Bristol, BS2 0ZX

Directions are enclosed.

Please could you contact Esther Wride by telephone on 01275 816087 or by email to to confirm your attendance.

Regards,

Nick Gargan

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

By car

From M4 - Junction 19. Exit the M4 at Junction 19 and take the M32 motorway towards Bristol city centre. At the end of the motorway, move into the left hand lane and bear left at the House of Fraser building, following signs for Bristol Temple Meads station. Continue on through the underpass and immediately after it enter a left exit lane, to turn left at the traffic lights into Avon Street (in front of the RBS building). One Glass Wharf is situated approximately 250 metres along Avon Street on the right. The entrance ramp to the underground car park is at the far end of the building. Parking to be booked in advance. Please note for your return journey, on leaving Avon Street you will have to turn left into Temple Way, as it is a one way system, and turn back at the next roundabout.

From M5 South - Junction 18. Exit the M5 at Junction 18 and follow the A4 to Bristol city centre along the Avon Gorge. On reaching the city centre follow the inner city ring road towards the M32. When the Showcase cinema and House of Fraser is on your right, move into the right hand lane, turn right and follow the route as above towards Temple Meads station.

By train from Bristol Temple Meads Station

On exiting the ticket barrier, walk straight ahead and past the main entrance doors on your left. Follow the signs to ‘Temple Quay’ through doorway to the car park. Turn right, then left down ramp. Follow the ‘Isambard Walk’ passing the shops on your left. Keep right across ‘The Square’, pass the ferry station steps (to your right) and cross the ‘S’ shaped ‘Valentine Bridge’ to One Glass Wharf.
