NOTES ON THE ZAMORA LINE
THE Z LINE DESCRIBED IN THIS DOCUMENT ARE THE ZAMORAS OF QUISUMBING DESCENT THROUGH FILOMENA G. QUISUMBING, DAUGHTER OF MARIANO AND BERNARDINA AND SISTER OF VICENTE QUISUMBING.
It is possible that there are some Zs of the Q descent who do not realize this. Please feel free to share this information.
MARIANO QUE-SUM-BING & BERNARDINA GONZALEZ
According to Pacita Q. Luspo, as told to her daughter Chuchi, the original Q fell in love with a Filipina who did not want to entertain him; therefore he paid a Filipino to court her. During the wedding, the Chinese Q (presumably Mariano) took over and the wedding proceeded. Mariano asked Bernardina why she did not like him when she cried after their wedding. She told him it was his queue. Mariano stopped wearing a queue and the marriage went well.
Mariano may have been born of a Portuguese mother and a Chinese father in Macao. This is oral tradition from Pacita Q. Luspo of the Honorato/Emilio Line and Al Quisumbing of the Honorato/Fernando Line.

Mariano Que Sum Bing and Bernardina Gonzales had another son (first name not known) who carried the surname of his mother, Gonzales, after the Spanish custom, and who lived in Cebu. I remember my father (III Ramon Sr) telling us that the Gonzaleses of Cebu were our relatives. Maybe you can ask our Cebu Qs to make inquiries regarding this? (Cora has checked this out. It seems to be a deadend).

The name JUAN was provided by Chuchi in May 2009 baased on her search. Juan Zamora was a captain of a ship. Filomena was “de ascendencia visaya”. This helps to confirm that the Quisumbings originate from the Visayas. That is another story.
For many years, Cora Q has kept a photo of a gentleman with her father’s handwriting on the back identifying him to be “Juan Zamora”. Could this be our 1st generation ancestor? Before 2009, all we knew was what Tia Viving Corrales Taboada shared—that a Juan Zamora who was a distant relative inspired her to be a doctor; he also lived in Camiguin. This person would not be Z ancestor. Note, there is a Juan C. Zamora who was the mayor of Cebu during the Japanese (mentioned in Parian by Briones). Not all Zs descend from the Q line.

From Tita Yoli Q Javellana of the II-1 Alejandro/III-5 Ramon Line in 2006: About the Margarita Quisumbing-Ysmael line, I remember my father Ramon saying that the Osorios--Marina Osorio (I don't remember her married name) and Natividad (Naty) Osorio-Aquinaldo--were our relatives, perhaps from the Margarita Quisumbing-Ysmael line? as they don't appear on the other 2 lines. Maybe you can trace this relationship?

With regard to Jose Rizal: Two of his sisters married into the Arguelles Line. The son of Maria RIzal & Daniel Cruz--Mauricio-- married Concepcion Arguelles, a daughter of Cayetano, an older brother of Ciriaca Arguelles who married Honorato Quisumbing. The son of Narcisa Rizal & Antonio Lopez—Leoncio--married Natividad C. Arguelles, daughter of Geminiano F. Arguelles, a younger brother of Ciriaca.
The birth order of the siblings need to be confirmed. FIli seems to be the eldest based on family photos found in Casa Corrales.
