Sources of funding
There are a number of different sources of funding that groups and organisations can apply to, some are open to any type of group, others are restricted to, for example, registered charities or particular areas of work or geographical area.

NEW FUNDING PROGRAMME TO USE DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY FOR SOCIAL CHANGEComic Relief have launched a new pilot funding programme to support not-for-profit organisations that want to use digital technology to create social change by delivering new ideas or more effective services.
The "Tech for Good" programme is specifically targeted at not-for-profit organisations that already have some technical expertise and capacity to enact social change using digital technologies.
Comic Relief are looking to fund projects that use software and digital technology as a part of a solution to addressing any of our UK Main Fund themes:
•Better Futures
•Safer Lives
•Healthier Finances
•Stronger Communities
•Fairer Society.
Applicants must be able to complete their project within six months (grants will start from mid-July) and Comic Relief will provide additional mentoring to ensure they are best placed to do so.
Comic Relief will fund 6-8 digital projects between £15,000 and £60,000 (with access to further expert support).
The deadline for applications is 3pm on Friday 8th May 2015.

ASDA FOUNDATION OPENS FOR APPLICATIONS
Local groups can apply to the ASDA Foundation for funding of between £5,000 and £10,000 for projects that benefit the wider community. Funding can be used for both capital (buildings, vehicles and equipment, etc) and revenue / running costs. Please note that projects seeking funding for running costs only are not eligible.
Applications need to be submitted via local Asda stores and the closing date for the current funding round is 20th May 2015.

ARE YOU INVOLVED IN ADULT VOCATIONAL LEARNING?
The UFI Charitable Trust is providing grants to use digital technology to improve access to and the delivery of adult vocational learning through its Vocational Learning Technology Fund. Organisations such as registered charities, community interest companies, social enterprises, not for profits, companies, community associations, FE colleges and public bodies can apply for grants of between £15,000 and £50,000 to help develop more robust digital product or service. Funding will be awarded for a maximum period of 12 months.
Application to the Vocational Learning Technology Fund is a two stage process. Applicants who succeed at Stage 1 will be asked to submit a more detailed, Stage 2 application. Stage 2 applications are by invitation only and depend upon a successful Stage 1 application.

ASDA CARRIER BAG COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAMME
Asda has committed the proceeds (less VAT) from the sale of the 5p single-use carrier bags across their 62 stores in Scotland to charitable causes.
The Asda Carrier Bag Community Grants programme will provide grants of up to £2000 to help community groups, with an annual income of less than £250,000, run projects in local communities across Scotland. PTAs/Parent Councils can apply if appropriately constituted but must evidence the project has genuine wider community benefit. The funds can be used for:
•General running costs
•Training
•Equipment
•Materials
•Marketing and awareness raising initiatives
•Training
•Community events.
The amount applied for must be at least 25% of the overall total project cost. There are no deadlines but the panel meets in September and December to allocate the funding and its advisable to submit applications at least 10 weeks in advance of the meetings.

FUNDING FOR CHILDREN WITH PHYSICAL OR LEARNING DISABILITY OR ARE SOCIALLY DISADVANTAGED
The John Watson Trust are inviting applications for grants of up to £2,000 are available to support educational projects for children and young people under the age of 21 who have a physical or learning disability, or who are socially disadvantaged.
The funding which is made available by the John Watson Trust cannot accept requests for day school or university fees however; grants are occasionally made for funding school expenses such as equipment, outings and tuition. School boarding fees may be covered however, this is usually in exceptional cases where personal circumstances make boarding a necessary option. Examples of grants awarded include:
•Dyslexia tuition
•School trips
•Bus passes
•School expenses such as books and equipment
•Laptops where there is a special education need; etc.
Although the Trust operates primarily within Edinburgh and the Lothians, grants may be awarded Scotland wide depending on each individual case.

COMMUNITY FOOD & HEALTH’S ANNUAL DEVELOPMENT FUND
Community Food and Health Scotland (CFHS) has announced that its Annual Development Fund (formerly known as the small grant scheme) will re-open for applications in June 2015.
Previously, grants ranging from £500 to £3,000 have been available to groups and agencies who would like to tackle one or more of the barriers to healthy eating, such as affordability or availability, and the negative impact of culture and lack of food skills.
CFHS welcome applications from local groups or agencies working with and within low-income communities throughout Scotland including from agencies such as the NHS, schools or other local authority organisations if they work closely with community groups.

FUNDING TO IMPROVE LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND PROMOTE FINANCIAL INCLUSION
The Bank of Scotland Foundation has announced that the next closing dates for its small and medium grant making programmes is the 13th July 2015.
The aim of the Foundations grant making is to support projects that improve and develop local communities and promote financial literacy and financial inclusion. The types of projects supported include:
•Initiatives designed to encourage the involvement in the community of those too often excluded
•Working with people on low incomes, at risk from poverty or with problems finding accommodation
•Improving the standards of local facilities
•Promoting financial awareness and money advice
•Enhancing debt counselling services within the community
•Supporting life-skills in all age groups and sections of the community.
Through the small grants making programme, grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available and through the medium grants making programme grants of between £10,001 and £25,000 are available.
The Foundation also run a large grant making programme. This is currently closed to applications. Applications can only be accepted from charities registered in Scotland.

FUNDING FOR ORGANISATIONS INVOLVED WITH YOUTH WORK
Youth Link Scotland has announced that the National Voluntary Youth Organisations Support Fund 2015-16 is now open for applications.
The Fund has been set up by the Scottish Government to support National Voluntary Youth Organisations to contribute to the achievement of the National Youth Strategy.
This fund is open to national voluntary youth work organisations that are involved in the management and delivery youth work across Scotland. Local branches of national voluntary youth organisations or voluntary youth organisations that do not have a national remit are not eligible to apply.
There will be no lower limit, however applications in excess of £50,000 will only be considered in exceptional circumstances, all applications over this amount should be discussed with a member of the management team at YouthLink Scotland prior to the application be submitted.
The closing date for applications is the 11th May 2015.
