PRESS RELEASE

Colour Fields for Office Landscapes

Wien/Waidhofen an der Ybbs, 24 April 2014:Bene is bringing lively accents to the office floor with its exclusive rug collection “Greenwich”.Designed by London based design studio PearsonLloyd and manufactured exclusively for Bene by the Catalan producer of designer rugs, nanimarquina, the collection provides a fresh look at the issue of colours and fabrics in the office. The network of paths found in the famous London park was already a source of inspiration for furniture fabrics – and now also for rugs.

Design: PearsonLloyd

London designers Tom Lloyd and Luke Pearson were inspired by the history and structure of Greenwich Park while designing the Greenwich rug collection: “The seemingly chaotic network of pathways criss-crossing London’s Greenwich Park portrays the targeted movement of people through the city”, explains Tom Lloyd. As such the pattern illustrates the dynamic interplay of nature and the city in an original way – transferred to office spaces: the interplay of a living space and a work space, of creativity and functionality. The result is a symbiosis of innovative design, harmonic colour combinations and premium workmanship. The new rugs accentuate and liven up the space, giving significance to certain areas through their form and design and making them essential design elements in modern office architecture.

Produced by nanimarquina

The Barcelona-based and internationally operating company of designer Nani Marquina produces the Greenwich rug collection exclusively for Bene. The firm nanimarquina begandesigning rugs and textile products in 1987, with a particular focus on research into raw materials and manufacturing processes. These factors enhance the appearance of the products and at the same time are an important reason for the brand’s commercial success.

“Rugs, textures, colours and knots are art which tell a story”,says Nani Marquina about her passion. Her frequent trips to Pakistan, India and Nepal have had a particular influence, prompting an intensive involvement with traditional production processes, not least through the fact that the company’s full production was transferred to India in 1993, where nanimarquina not only has premium handcrafted products produced, but is also committed to social projects.

Lines and Fields - handmade

The entire Greenwich rug collection is therefore also handmade and is produced from 100% Indian wool. This reflects nanimarquina’s commitment to outstanding quality and extraordinary design. The Greenwich collection is available in two designs: Lines and Fields, as well as in two forms: round and rectangular, and in two sizes.

“At nanimarquina we believe that each colour represents a feeling and that every feeling has its own colour. Selecting the right colour tone is therefore one of the most important steps in the design process. We have attempted to create harmony between the individual models in the Greenwich collection.”

Stories over stories that have thus “become etched into” the Greenwich collection: from an oasis of wellbeing of the green spaces to the dynamism of urban life, from the paths which branch out through the traditional English park to the centuries of tradition involved in Indian handicraft. The new Greenwich rug collection unfolds precisely in these areas of interplay, thereby embodying many aspects of Bene’s dynamic office world: creating a lively interaction between inspiring creativity and functional living space.
