Criteria:

  • Two letters of endorsement from a faculty member and one letter of endorsement from a non-related community person who will attest to the applicant’s character and seriousness

of intent

  • Student transcript
  • A copy (or copies) of letters of acceptance from the institution(s) of choice
  • Attached Questionnaire (additional pages may be attached)
  • Student must have proven financial need – copy of FAFSA/SAR required
  • Essay (with application) of how applicant has demonstrated an attitude and character of “Service Above Self” and what they have learned from that experience

Selection:

The scholarship committee of the Rotary Club of Sterling will select recipient.

Academic Scholarship Application 2015

The Rotary Club of Sterling sponsors a $2000 scholarship to the university or post-secondary school of your choice for the 2015-2016 academic year, based on the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.

Rotary is a worldwide service organization consisting of local business and professional men and women who have dedicated themselves to “Service Above Self”. We are looking for young men and women who have demonstrated more than just academic achievement, but also the desire to help others.

Please read the cover sheet instructions. Part of your score will be determined by your ability to follow instructions and to complete all parts of this application, including the written essay. You may type or print clearly your responses to each of the questions on the application form. Attach additional pages as necessary.

Submit the completed application to the Career Center of your school by March 27, 2015. Only the recipients of this scholarship will be notified on April 27, 2015.

If you are a scholarship recipient, you will be required to attend our scholarship presentation meeting, which will take place on May 18, 2015. You may attend with your parents and faculty member. Additionally, our Rotary Club would welcome you to speak during the 2015-2016 academic year to update our members on your field of study and your academic progress.
