MEDSCI 303 Peer Evaluation Questions and Qualifiers
- Attends all team meetings
Firstly you must all agree on where and how often you will meet as a group. Also in what form - online chat room meetings, emails, conference calls, Skype or face-to-face? Did all team members attend agreed meetings or give clear reasons as to why some meetings could not be made? Did all team members make an effort to understand work/family/study commitments that may make regular meetings hard?
Score 0 : Did not turn up to ANY scheduled meetings
Score 1 : Regularly did not show up to meetings or cancelled with little notice, made no attempt to fit meetings into schedule
Score 4 : Attended all AGREED scheduled meetings and/or was committed to making time to work with the group
- Volunteers/Shares the responsibility
Did you share tasks evenly, e.g. loading assignment on to Turnitin, seeing tutors for help? As a team member, did you volunteer for jobs or did you sit back and hope you wouldn’t be asked to do any extra work?
Score 0 : Did not take on any additional responsibilities that were involved in delivering the project to a high standard
Score 4 : Was happy to volunteer or accept delegated tasks for the group and made sure tasks were done correctly
- Communicates well with team member
Did each team member communicate well by speaking up at meetings, replying to all correspondence clearly, and in a timely manner?
Score 0 : Consistently did not reply to emails/texts or phone calls from other group members
Score 4 : Always replied to email/text or phone calls from other group member in a reasonable time frame
- Respects other team member
How well did each individual deal with the team member’s ideas? Was the approach open and were ideas incorporated into the report fairly and in agreement by all team members?
Score 0 : A lack of respect was shown by not accepting any ideas, verbal abuse or failure to democratically decide on what should be included.
Score 4 : All voices were heard equally, team members were treated fairly.

Do you and your team member read over the drafts provided, make notes of where improvements can be made and explain why you feel these improvements can be made?
Score 0 : Drafts were not read, no contributions to how improvements could be made
Score 4 : Drafts were read thoroughly and solutions based feedback was delivered via written or oral communication
- Able to use a range of resources to collect information
Did the team members show knowledge of how to search the literature for useful information that was relevant to the assessment? Were they able to access/find journal articles as well as text books and reviews or were they limited to non-peer-reviewed internet sites?
Score 0 : Did not provide any resources for the group
Score 1 : Provided poor quality resources, most of which could not be used
Score 4 : Provided a range of useful resources that were used for the report
- Sets/Meets realistic deadlines
Some team members may push for very early deadlines to avoid congestion with assessments from other papers, some team members may be accustomed to leaving work to the last minute. It is important that you meet in the middle and as a team you need to agree to a timeline that can be adhered to and achieved by all. It is important that you have input into what you believe is fair.
Score 0 : Did not contribute to the process of setting deadlines, objected to most suggestions and consistently did not adhere to the agreed deadlines
Score 4 : Was involved in the process of deciding deadlines and met each deadline on time
- Overall productive team member
Did each team member suggest ideas that were actually useful to the project and were incorporated somewhere during the process. Were some ideas of a higher quality than others and carried a larger work load?
Score 0 : Made little or no contribution of ideas during the project, submitted only first drafts of a low standard, all were rejected for the final project
Score 4 : Came to the team with excellent ideas, drafted and edited the ideas, that were eventually included in the final project
