NOTICE OF RACE

1.RULES

1.1.The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2.The YNZ Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.

1.3.The 29er One Design Class Rules will apply.

1.4.Appendix T will apply.

2.ADVERTISING

2.1.Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority. If this rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP]

3.Eligibility and ENTRY

3.1.The regatta is open to all boats of the 29er class.

3.2.Eligible boats may enter by presenting the entry form at Registration on Saturday 10th February 2017, at the Murrays Bay Sailing Club.

3.3.To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant and crew member shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the entrant and crew member’s national authority.

3.4.Each helm and crew must be a financial member of the New Zealand 29er Association or a 29er Association affiliated to the International 29er Association.

3.5.Entries will be made by completing the entry form published with this Notice of Raceat Scan or photo it to . Entries will be accepted up to 0900 on Saturday 19th May.

3.6.Entries may be cancelled for any boat not displaying its correct sail number or displaying the same sail number as any other boat in the same race.

4.FEES

4.1.Entry fee for the regatta will be $45 and may be deposited with MBSC: 12 3042 0272614 02 (Ref 29er & Sail#) or may be paid on Saturday 19th May.

5.SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

5.1.The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located at Murrays Bay Sailing Club Noticeboard.

6.VENUE

6.1.The regatta will be based at Murrays Bay Sailing Club.

6.2.Racing will take place on the waters off Murrays Bay Beach.

7.MEASUREMENT

7.1.All boats must comply with their class rules at all times during the regatta.No equipment that is subject to measurement under 29er class rules may be changed during the Regatta without the approval of the Chairman of the Race Committee

7.2.Wet clothing, measurement and equipment checks may be made throughout the Regatta at the discretion of the Race Committee or Protest Committee.

8.FORMAT

8.1.Registration will be from 0800Hrs on Saturday 19th May

8.2.A competitors briefing will be held in the Murrays Bay Sailing Club at 0930hrs on Saturday 19th May 2018

8.3.Up to 5 races to be sailed per day.

8.4.For the final race on Sunday, the Race Committee may signal that this race shall be a Medal Race for all competitors, and will score double points.

8.5.Prize giving will take place as soon as possible after the medal race

9.SCORING

9.1.The Low Point Scoring System of Appendix A, Scoring, will apply.

9.2.One race is required to be completed to constitute a regatta.

9.3.a) Until three races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

b) When three or more opening series races have been completed, a boat’s score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. However, the score from any medal race will not be excluded.

9.4.A minimum of 3 races must be sailed before a medal race will be sailed.

9.5.For the medal race, RRS A4.1 is changed so that the points are doubled.

9.6.Ties will be broken by the medal race score. This changes RRS A8. For tied boats with the same points score in the medal race, ties will be broken applying RRS A8 to the opening series scores.

10.PENALTIES

10.1.Amendment to rule 44.1, Taking a Penalty, is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by a One-Turn Penalty.

11.Disclaimer of Liability

11.1.Competitors participate in the Regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the Regatta.
