Academic Integrity

You will receive no credit for cheating on any part of a test, quiz, or other assignment.

Homework/Mental Math/Assignments/Projects

  • Calculators may be used for all homework unless otherwise noted.
  • Homework is assigned nearly every day. Each assignment is worth 2 points. Points are ONLY awarded to students who show their work.
  • Mental Math will occur twice a cycle. You will have 2 minutes to answer 100 basic math questions
  • To receive credit, you must turn in assignments the day it is due. Assignments will be due the NEXT day unless otherwise noted.
  • Failure to complete homeworkprior to the period it is due will result in an INCOMPLETE grade with a maximum of half credit (this includes skipping the first and last few problems). Further, homework turned in ONE day late for reasons other than illness will receive a maximum of half credit. Any homework turned in later than ONE day after their due date will receive NO CREDIT.
  • Students who miss a class are responsible for catching up on missed notes and assigned work. Students should get the notes from another student, read through them, address their textbook and then come in with any questions.
  • Refer to agenda for late policy on major assignments and projects.

Quizzes

  • Graded quizzes may or may not be announced. Students should be prepared to have a quiz over any section(s) that have previously been taught in the current or prior units.
  • Calculators may or may not be used on quizzes depending on the material.

Tests

  • Tests follow each unit and will be cumulative.
  • Test review days will be allocated as long as the students make use of them.
  • Calculators may or may not be used on tests, depending on the material.
  • Students who miss a test will receive a zero score, unless you make alternate arrangements with me PRIOR to the scheduled time of the test. (Parental note required) The students will generally write the test the first day the students returns to school.

**NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES ALLOWED ON ASSESSMENT DAYS**

Extra help is available, but only works if you use it.

  • I am usually available in the mornings and after school. To guarantee a specific time and availability, speak to me ahead of time.
  • Studying with your peers is strongly encouraged. Everyone picks up on different things during class, so combining your heads and talking about what you learned will greatly improve your performance. Study together; don’t copy.

**Changes to this course outline and the stated requirements may be made at the discretion of the teacher. Necessary changes will be based on sound reasons such as student interests for example, but will keep within the provincial course outcomes.
