About Tennis Surrey

Tennis Surrey is the organisation responsible for the administration and development of tennis throughout the County, from those just thinking of taking up the game to tournament players of all levels. The County Association affiliates to the LTA and we work closely with the LTA in attracting new players of all ages, supporting clubs, schools and other places to play as well as developing coaching schemes and competitive play at club and county level.

Tennis Surrey consists of the County Office and volunteers, many of whom have specialist skills relevant to the organisation and its work. We constantly strive to improve and broaden the services we offer so that we may give support and service of the highest quality to all those involved with tennis in the County.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who is passionate about tennis to develop tennis within our clubs and venues as well as promote and enhance disability tennis in Surrey.

Terms

·  Salary - dependent on experience

·  This is a full time position

·  25 days annual leave (pro rated where applicable) plus bank holidays

·  Pension scheme

·  Expenses (mileage for travel away from the County office as required)

·  Evening and weekend working will be required at times with time off in lieu (as agreed)

Overview

The role will be in two parts.

·  Firstly, Tennis Surrey is looking for an individual to support our registered tennis venues.

·  Secondly, Tennis Surrey wishes to deliver more in the area of disability tennis, to include all areas of disability, eg physically disabled, learning disabled, hearing impaired, visually impaired etc. The outcome will be more people with disabilities across Surrey playing and engaging with tennis in its widest sense.

Responsibilities

Tennis Development

·  LTA registration – identification and registration of new places to play

·  Liaise with and support registered venues in Surrey to enable them to develop and manage a safe and successful venue, including retaining and growing their membership

·  Assist venues working towards Tennismark/Tennismark+

·  Effectively communicate with registered venues on a regular basis on the main areas of work of the County ensuring we maintain their continued registration

·  Work with the Tennis Surrey Venue Support Committee

Disability Tennis

·  Create and co-ordinate an effective disability tennis partnership for Surrey, developing a disability tennis network which will deliver the disability tennis strategy

·  Link with County and local partners including tennis clubs, parks, schools, leisure centres, disability charities etc

·  Increase and develop a competent workforce qualified to deliver disability tennis

·  Identify and access funding and sponsorship for disability tennis

·  Ensure all relevant activity and opportunities are publicised using the appropriate media channels, including digital media

General

·  Produce regular reports for the Tennis Surrey Operations Board and the Tennis Foundation on activity, results, expenditure and budgets requirements

·  Carry out other tasks that may be required to support Tennis Surrey

The above areas of work will be carried out in conjunction with the County volunteers and will include several tasks that are purely seasonal.


Person Specification

Qualifications

·  Full Driving Licence and car owner

·  A satisfactory DBS disclosure

·  A passion for sport

Skills / Experience Required

·  Ability to work well both independently and when reporting to, and working with, a team

·  Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to liaise and communicate with people at all levels

·  Good organisation skills and ability to use own initiative and multi task, as well as the ability to work under pressure

·  Ability to network effectively with other tennis people, club volunteers, disability organisations, funding partners etc.

·  Willing and able to generate own ideas and work as part of a team

Responsible to

The Surrey TDO/DTC will report to the Tennis Surrey Coordinator and the County Secretary, who will be responsible for meeting with the TDO/DTC on a regular basis, setting objectives, reviewing performances and being available to provide advice and guidance along with other members of the Tennis Surrey Council.

Term

The LTA has just gone through a significant period of change and Tennis Surrey is adapting to a new way of working. This role will initially be a one year fixed term contract to be reviewed at the end of the fixed term with input from Tennis Surrey and the successful candidate.
