Great Afternoon for Driffield Swimmers

Driffield Junior Amateur Swimming Club attended another Borders Gala with Beverley Barracudas at Driffield hosted by Pocklington Dolphins on 6th May 2017.

The gala started with the open age group with Bethany Dinsdale-Young earning herself second place in the 50 metre freestyle. This was followed by Ethan Stockton with his impressive freestyle achieving him first place and a personal best time. A great result for Ethan as this is the first time he’s swam in the open age group for the Club.

The nine and ten year old girls had a great afternoon with Kaitlyn Scott and Holly Billam both achieving two personal best times with a fist place for Holly in her graceful breaststroke. Another personal best time in this age group was Isobel Pape with her front crawl.

There were only two nine and ten year old boys but both Dan Kemp and Tom Miles had great swims with personal best times for Dan in his butterfly and breaststroke.

Personal best times were in abundance in the 12 years and under age group – Sophie Ostler and Bradley Bateman with their breaststroke, Erin Redfern and Josh Palmer with front crawl and Gabrielle Turton and Morgan Cuthbert with their butterfly. This was Lily Blythe’s first gala and she earned herself a personal best in backstroke.

George Martindale, Will Hakner and Connor Gardner all earned personal best times in the 14 years and under with all three boys swimming too fast! Other personal best times in this age group were achieved by Jack Lacy and Isobel Jackson with Isobel being too fast for her race!

In the open age group, there were wins and PBs for Kezia Cartwright and Skye Bowman with PBs for Harris Bowman and Nathan Cuthbert.

Wins were achieved in the medley relays by the 12 years and under girls, Lily Blythe, Sophie Ostler, Gabrielle Turton and Erin Redfern. Oliver Hakner, Bradley Bateman, Morgan Cuthbert and Josh Palmer also won their medley relay.

The medley and front crawl relays for the 14 years and under girls were won by Abbie Wilson, Gracie Edeson, Isobel Jackson, Aimee Bowman and Skye Bowman. The boys were too fast for their medley!

Both medley and front crawl races in the open age groups for the girls were won by Taylor Cartwright, Hollie Edeson, Kezia Cartwright, Bethany Dinsdale-Young and Skye Bowman. The boys open age group also won both their relays with Harris Bowman, Elliott Moorfoot, Nathan Cuthbert and Ethan Stockton.

Well done to all swimmers and final results were third place Beverley Barracudas with 75 points, Driffield in second place with 83 points and Pocklington winners with 116 points.

Congratulations to all Driffield swimmers! 23 personal best times, 13 first places and six races being too fast! A fantastic result!
