March 5th: - Gerry Weinbren has been a film maker, cameraman, director and producer,for more than half a century. He has travelled the world and will discuss and illustrate some of the technological changes he has experienced using his longtime companion a 35mm Aaton and his latest acquisition the new Canon C300 PL
March 19th: - Competition Night - THE JACK BAKER TROPHY - Holiday Video Competition - Winner gets the Trophy and £20.00! THE QUICKY FILM COMPETITION - (any subject, max 5 minutes) - £20.00 for the winner!

April 2nd: -“Into the Light” - How four directors interpret a short script. Four films and how they were made! PLUS "Nightmare" The Premiere! The first showing of a recently completed film, written, directed and produced by club members. Finally, John Howden will show us how he’s created a 3D image of a Roman Villa in conjunction with an educational project.

April 16th - The 2012 BFVS Annual Challenge – “Lost and Found”. Groups of members will plan, script and schedule a short film to be shot in the summer and reviewed by a professional editor on 5th November.

May 7th: - Santos Veeranki will present a selection for his excellent films and explain how he produces them quickly. This will be followed by Tony Orr on the subject of “Lighting – From Foot Candles to Compact Fluorescent Lamps”.

May 21st: - Editing Revisited! – Focusing on “The Project”, “The Sound” & “DVD Production”. (Vegas, Pinnacle, Premiere & Edius)

June 4th:- Showcase Evening - Hear about our members' ideas for future film projects. We'll be seeing more about both dramas and documentaries that some of our members have either produced scripts or outlines for.

June 18th:- The 2012 BFVS Annual Challenge - One Group will use the meeting room to shoot their mini epic film, whilst others shoot elsewhere. Filming is not restricted to this evening only.
July 2nd: -How do you shoot a wedding video? Club members will explain their techniques and show examples of their work.

July 16th:- Past Winners; Memorable Movies – Another chance to view some classic films from the recent past!

Aug 6th: - Bristol Show reel – Bristol is the 2015 “Green City” and there will be potential demand for stock footage. Gerry Weinbren will host a discussion on what we might shoot, how, when and where, including how we might promote our work.

Aug 20th: - Tonight we “Shoot and edit an ultra-short film or films. Plenty of hands on experience!

Sept 3rd: - "The 120 Minute Challenge" Part 2

Sept 17th: - Recording Sound in Noisy Environments - We will carry out some experiments to see what can be done when recording dialogue with limited equipment. Bring your camera and/or sound equipment if you want to have a go too.

We’ll also be showing the final film from the challenge evenings and you’ll get the chance to have your say on our future programme.

Oct 1st: - Epics on a Low Budget

Do low budget films have to be restricted to simple domestic settings?

Are bigger subjects possible?

Yes they are.

Of particular interest to script writers and directors tonight's meeting is designed to encourage a bigger filming landscape. It will cover why we should aim for this, tricks to aid filming and getting help.

The Society aims to help all who use film or video as a means of personal expression. Constructive criticism is encouraged and beginners are especially welcome to come along to one or two meetings without any obligation to join.
Members may bring guests to any meeting. Bona Fide members of other similar clubs are welcome to visit.
