Curriculum and Instruction
Every grade level emphasizes reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.
Our educational program is enriched with music, art, computers, physical education and
media. During our daily 40-minute “Pirate Time,” our staff provides targeted
interventionsand enrichment for our students in reading and math. Our teachers use a
problem-based learning model, PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) with the students, which consists of a logical sequence of four repetitive steps for continous improvement and learning.
Behavior
Our school utilizes PBS (positive behavior support) to set clear expectations for school wide behavior. We focus on the 3 R’s- Respect Self, Respect Others, and Respect Your School. Students learn how to demonstrate the 3 R’s in all areas of the building.
Technology
Our students have access to 2 computer labs at LES, and every classroom is equipped with computers. Our students also have access to an airliner and projector in their classrooms. Students receive technology instruction with a certified technology teacher every other week and have access to the computer labs during the flex week.
