Aurora directors’ application for leave to appeal heard tomorrow - Solidarity

The application of Khulubuze Zuma, Zondwa Mandela and Thulani Ngubani, former directors of Aurora Empowerment Systems, for leave to appeal in the controversial Aurora case will be heard in the North Gauteng High Court today. The directors want to appeal against an earlier judgment in terms of which they are held liable for damages to the value of R1,7 billion.

Marikana report fails to highlight tragedy could have been prevented

The Farlam Commission recently released a report on the Marikana massacre that occurred in 2012. Trade union Solidarity believes the Farlam Commission’s report on the Marikana incident doesn’t make the point that the tragedy could have been prevented. The Marikana massacre was preceded by unruly gatherings at which protesters carried dangerous weapons.

SAPS delays removal of illegal power connections

AfriForum has instructed their legal team to go ahead with a high court application to order the SAPS to guard staff of the Tshwane Metro Municipality when they remove illegal power connections in Sunway, Hartbeespoort. The civil rights organisation will also ask the court to force the SAPS to explain to the court why they’re not executing their constitutional duties.
