EPHA Coaching Certification for 2015-16
Here are the necessary steps you need to take and a few things you will need to know/complete in order to be compliant with USA Hockey and be certified to coach right away:
· Register as a “Coach” on https://www.usahockeyregistration.com/login_input.action . You will be charged $40 plus another $10 fee, EPHA will reimburse this cost. Once you have registered as a “Coach”, send your USAH confirmation number to Pat Daylor (EPHA Registrar), he will then be able to add you to the team roster as soon as teams have been selected.
· Background Screen: This can be found out on http://www.minnesotahockey.org/page/show/96281-screening this does not cost anything and only takes a couple of days to complete. This is good for 2 years, if you completed this for the 2014-15 season, you should be all set for this season. To verify, you can search on the list of cleared coaches on the MN Hockey site (link above). This needs to be all-clear before being able to be around the kids, so it is best to get this done right away so you can hit the ice as soon as teams are selected
· SafeSport Verification: This, too, needs to be completed before being able to join the team on the ice/bench. This is a bit of a pain, takes about 2 hours to complete but definitely not very difficult. You can find SafeSport at this link http://www.usahockey.com/safesporttraining SafeSport Verification is also good for 2 seasons, if you completed this for the 2014-15 season you are good for this year.
· Age-Specific Module: These are a series of video you need to watch and then answer questions, log on and take the appropriate modules for the level you are coaching at http://www.usahockey.com/page/show/892966-age-specific-modules . **Important to know is that these need to be completed by 12/31, which is the deadline for submitting final rosters to Minnesota Hockey. Anyone who has not completed these by 12/31 will not be allowed to continue coaching after that point. These are easy to forget about, so the sooner you can complete them, the better
· Coaching Education Program (CEP) certification: Certifications also need to be achieved by 12/31. You are ok to start the season without your CEP, and there are a couple of clinics being offered in EP this fall. District 6 will be hosting Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 clinics in EP on October 17th and November 7th. I would recommend the registering for one of these clinics right away as seats fill up fast. You can register for the clinics at http://www.usahockey.com/coachingclinics , Also, you will need to register as a “Coach” with USAH before being able to register for one of these clinics. You can verify the status of your CEP by searching on your name at http://www.usahockey.com/coachingcertification
