Position: Varsity Coed Swim Head Coach (Winter Season)
Father Gabriel Richard/Whitmore Lake/Greenhills School Cooperative seeks a head coach for the varsity swimming program.The position is for the 2016-17 winter sports season, which begins in November.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma required
- Successful high school and/or college swimming experience (Preferred)
- Experience coachingswimming at a high school level (Preferred)
- Instructs and demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team achievement in swimming
- Prepares practice plans in advance for all scheduled practices
- Works with the Athletic Director in scheduling practices and contests and ensuring that administrative coaching duties are completed
- Knowledge of MHSAA rules and a working knowledge of the sport of swimming
- Supervises students in locker rooms at home and away contests and ensures appropriate behavior
- Travels with student athletes on the team bus both to and from contests
- Attend Virtus Training as required by CHSL
- Attend MHSAA Coaches Advancement Program (CAP)
- Consults with Athletic Director regarding any off-season training programs
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with athletes, parents and school staff
- Reports and secures approval from the Athletic Director of all adults associated with their sport
- Ability to be in attendance at all practices, competitions, meetings and team functions
- Assist athletes who wish to compete at the next level
- Other such qualifications deemed necessary and appropriate for the position
Job Description:
This Varsity Swim coach is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for the discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork necessary in a successful swim program. We are seeking a candidate who teaches fundamentals, rules, techniques, and strategies with a positive, energetic, and constructive approach. Varsity head coaches are expected to plan and execute daily practices that appropriately challenge the student athletes in order to help them achieve their potential. The ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate a passion for the sport, and for fostering the development of students as athletes and human beings. They will communicate often and consistently with athletes, parents and school administration.
