Corrections Intermediate Certificate
Requirements:
1. Be employed and certified as a full-time corrections officer or Juvenile Program Worker, and;
- After certification, and within a two-year period, successfully complete 80 hours of Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified training.
This training will be either:
Maine Criminal Justice Academy in-service training;
Regional Training approved by the Board of Trustees not including the subject defined mandatory training requirements; and/or
Criminal Justice Training Courses conducted by recognized training institutes or out of state agencies.
Keeping Intermediate Certification Active:
Each officer in order to maintain the Intermediate Certificate must, complete 80 hours of Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified training every two years.
Any officer who fails to complete 80 hours will be placed in an inactive status.
Corrections Advanced Certificate
Requirements:
The Advanced Certificate is awarded to full-time corrections officers who have successfully completed a minimum of 120 classroom hours beyond the Corrections Intermediate Certificate.
This training will be either:
Maine Criminal Justice Academy in-service training;
Regional Training approved by the Board of Trustees not including the subject defined mandatory training requirements; and/or
Criminal Justice Training Courses conducted by recognized training institutes or out of state agencies.
Keeping Advanced Certification Active:
Each officer in order to maintain the Advanced Certificate must, complete 100 hours of Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified training every two years.
Any officer who fails to complete 100 hours will be placed in an inactive status.
