Corrections Intermediate Certificate

Requirements:

1. Be employed and certified as a full-time corrections officer or Juvenile Program Worker, and;

  1. After certification, and within a two-year period, successfully complete 80 hours of Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified training.

This training will be either:

Maine Criminal Justice Academy in-service training;

Regional Training approved by the Board of Trustees not including the subject defined mandatory training requirements; and/or

Criminal Justice Training Courses conducted by recognized training institutes or out of state agencies.

Keeping Intermediate Certification Active:

Each officer in order to maintain the Intermediate Certificate must, complete 80 hours of Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified training every two years.

Any officer who fails to complete 80 hours will be placed in an inactive status.

Corrections Advanced Certificate

Requirements:

The Advanced Certificate is awarded to full-time corrections officers who have successfully completed a minimum of 120 classroom hours beyond the Corrections Intermediate Certificate.

This training will be either:

Maine Criminal Justice Academy in-service training;

Regional Training approved by the Board of Trustees not including the subject defined mandatory training requirements; and/or

Criminal Justice Training Courses conducted by recognized training institutes or out of state agencies.

Keeping Advanced Certification Active:

Each officer in order to maintain the Advanced Certificate must, complete 100 hours of Maine Criminal Justice Academy certified training every two years.

Any officer who fails to complete 100 hours will be placed in an inactive status.
