°  Entire class reads and discusses NUMBER THE STARS. Supplement the lessons with non-fiction books and other historical fiction: THE NUMBER ON MY GRANDFATHER’S ARM, HILDE AND ELI, and THE HARMONICA.
°  Each person should choose two books to compare and contrast the characters’ lives.
°  Through research (teacher provided list of articles and biographies), choose one child involved in the Holocaust. Create a character doll summarizing the child’s life. Each section can focus on a different part of one’s life: family, special gifts, before the Holocaust and after, etc. The character doll could also include a poem.
