Monday
Instructional Strategy / Every Monday is an introduction using power point, flashcards, and study guides. This week’s topic is… Organs and Systems in the Body
Objective: 3b
Materials / Power Point, Flashcards, Binder # 5
Art activity: Cells, Tissues, Organs. Take Kleenex, draw cells in marker onto the tissue. Glue tissues onto pictures of organs. (Cells work together to make tissues. Tissues work together to make organs. Organs work together to make a system.)
Homework / Study/memorize flashcards 5 minutes each night (Monday – Thursday). Test Friday.
Tuesday
Instructional Strategy / Students rotate through 6 centers throughout the week. They complete 2 centers on Tuesday, 2 more on Wednesday, and the last 2 on Thursday.
Center #1- Can-Do Game from Lakeshore (tokens and multiple choice questions)
Center #2- Matching Game at Whiteboard
Materials / Word document w/ names of organs, cut into strips. Laminate and add magnetic tape to back. Match at board to their correct systems. Provide answer key!
Wednesday
Instructional Strategy / Students rotate through 6 centers throughout the week. They complete 2 centers on Tuesday, 2 more on Wednesday, and the last 2 on Thursday.
Center #3- Drill flashcards with team
Center #4- Heart and blood art activity
Materials / Make flashcards using pictures from google image search. Glue picture on one side, write name of system on the other side. Laminate. Art activity includes an outline of large heart and veins. Students draw waste materials, oxygen, and food being “transported” through the blood stream. Discuss how respiratory and circulatory system work together.
Thursday
Instructional Strategy / Students rotate through 6 centers throughout the week. They complete 2 centers on Tuesday, 2 more on Wednesday, and the last 2 on Thursday.
Center #5- Interactive websites at Promethean Board
Center #6- Reading comprehension center - use context clues in “curious episodes” worksheet. OR provide A.R. books on the human body systems.

Friday
Instructional Strategy / “Test and Rest” day. Students will take a 20 question, multiple choice test. On average, tests take about 30 minutes. Students then watch a TOPIC-RELATED video after the test. (Friday schedules are shorter due to R.I.T.)
