2018 White Heather Historic and Targa Tests
Supplementary Regulations
- Announcement :
Wigton M.C. will promote the White Heather Tests for historic & classic cars and the White Heather Targa Tests on Saturday, March 10th, 2018, based at the White Heather Hotel, Kirkbride airfield, CA7 5HW.
2.Jurisdiction:
Held under the General Rules of the RAC MSA Ltd Incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA & these Supplementary Regulations. A Closed to Club Production Car Autotest permit will be issued for the event.
3.Eligibility:
The event is open to fully elected members of Wigton Motor Club All drivers and crew must produce Wigton MC membership cards at signing on. Crews do not require a competition licence.
Historic Car eligibility – period modifications only are permitted and cars must use an engine, gearbox and axle of original make. Tyres: Only road pattern “E” marked tyres will be permitted (including snow type). M & S tyres will not be permitted.
Hydraulic handbrakes are not permitted in either the historic or targa sections to avoid damage to the venues. Hydraulic handbrakes, if fitted, must be disabled in a manner which is satisfactory to the scrutineer. There will be checks carried out throughout the day to ensure this requirement is being adhered to.

Any crew not signed on by 30 minutes before their start time will be excluded.
5.Route:
The event is based almost entirely on Kirkbride airfield. There will be some short sections on the highway which will be signed with arrows on the day, but these are non competitive and untimed. Cars will be in grouped to start at different tests and then visit the various tests as directed in the road book. It is expected that up to 20 tests will be run.
- Classes:
The event isopen to Pre- Historic (pre 1960); Historic cars (1960-1967 inclusive);
Post Historic cars (1968-1974 inclusive), Cat 3 cars (1975-81 inclusive), Cat 4 cars (1982-1985 inclusive) and Targa cars complying with the relevant requirements of the MSA Blue Book, ie, Section J, and in addition, for Targa cars, Sections R18 &19. These categories will be subdivided into classes by capacity at either 1400cc or 1500cc: There will also be a Specials class for road legal cars which are unable to comply with R18 & R19 (e.g. cars with more than 4 cylinders, more camshafts, carburettors, body modifications etc)
Cat 1.1 Pre Historic Class F1 Up to 1500cc Class F2 over 1500cc
Cat 1.2 Historic: Class H1 Up to 1500cc Class H2 over 1500cc
Cat 2 Post Historic: Class P1 Up to 1500cc Class P2 over 1500cc
Cat 3 Classic Class C1 Up to 1500cc Class C2 over 1500cc
Cat 4 Post Classic Class D1 Up to 1400cc Class D2 over 1400cc
Cat 5 Targa Class T1 Up to 1400cc Class T2 over 1400cc
Cat 6SpecialsOpen to cars which do not comply with R18 & R19.
Classes may be merged within a category depending on the number of entries in each class. If there are less than 4 entries in a class then the class may be merged. All vehicles must be insured, taxed and tested for use on the highway. Electronic checks will be made prior to the mailing of the Final Instructions and any vehicles which do not comply will be excluded unless arrangements are in place. There is no requirement for competition insurance for this event, normal road cover is adequate.
7.Awards:
Unique perpetual awards will be presented to the first three in each class subject to the number of entries. The outright winners will be the crew with the least penalties from the Historic or the Targa. Cars in class 6 will be ineligible for overall awards but here may be a class award if numbers permit. The number of awards may be increased or decreased as appropriate.

8.Entries:
The entry fee includes coffee at the start, a light meal at the halfway halt and dinner at the finish. The entry fee
is £80 for Wigton MC members This includes all RAC MSA and off road insurance. All entries must be made on a correctly and fully completed entry form accompanied by the correct fee. Cheques should be crossed and made payable to Wigton M.C. Ltd. All cheques will be banked on receipt. The closing date for entries is March 5th. Late entries may be accepted after that date with an additional fee of £25. The maximum number of starters is 30 plus five reserves. Entries will be accepted in order of receipt and the entry may be reclassified in class order. Entry fees will only be refunded (minus a £10 administration charge) if the entry is withdrawn in writing prior to March 5th.
Withdrawals after that date will not normally receive a refund.

10.Results:
Provisional results will be published as soon as possible after the finish as per H35. Any protest must be lodged in accordance with C5.1.
11. Route Instructions:
Crews will be provided at signing on with a diagrammatic road book, test diagrams and time cards, which will provide all the necessary information to complete the route.
12.Identification:
Cars will be identified by window numbers and numbered time cards.
13.Penalties:
The PCA Tests will be run to RAC MSA regulations and full details will be contained in the final instructions.
14.Times:
The onus in obtaining the correct time lies entirely with the competitor. In the event of a query, the time on the time card and marshals’ check sheets will be used.
15Judges of Fact:
Any officials, other persons specifically named as such in these S.R’s, in Final Instructions or on the official notice
board at the event HQ, or signed on as marshals, are deemed to be judges of fact in respect of their duties as
specified in such Instructions or Notices, and in respect of compliance with the relevant parts of R8 & G10.
