New Jersey resident wins

hGTV Green Home Giveaway 2011

Sayreville, New Jersey [For Immediate Release--July 1, 2011] New Jersey resident Debbie Stolte has won the HGTV Green Home 2011. Stolte learned she was the winner of the 2011 Giveaway on Tuesday evening when HGTV’s Jamie Durie came to her home in Sayreville, NJ, looking for her. Her grand prize package includes the eco-friendly, single-family home located in the Stapleton community of Denver, a 2011 GMC® Terrain® and $100,000.

“I am so excited! My heart is going crazy, I am so happy,” said Stolte. “This couldn’t have come at a better time. I am out of work so this is miraculous!”

Stolte, a former special education teacher’s aide, almost missed Durie’s visit. She, husband Brian and teenage daughter Erica had gone out to dinner when Durie made the surprise appearance at her home to give her the news. Fortunately, a curious neighbor who came out to see what was going on was able to give her a call to return home. Stolte had entered the giveaway once each day on HGTV.com and once each day on HGTV’s Frontdoor.com throughout the entry period.

“All of us at HGTV are thrilled to hand over the keys to the 2011 HGTV Green Home to our loyal fan, Debbie Stolte,” said Jim Samples, president, HGTV. “Her randomly selected entry was one among the record more than 22 million submitted. The beautiful, yet green, design of this year’s Denver home made it a sure hit with our viewers.”

Located in an eco-progressive community created on the site of Denver’s former airport, the HGTV Green Home is a modern prairie-style home with approximately 2,400 square feet of living space. The two story, three bedroom, 2 ½ bath home features construction and design elements that are known to contribute to an energy-efficient, cleaner and healthier living environment. The home received a Platinum LEED certification—the highest rating a home can earn within the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program and an Energy Star certification which acknowledges its energy efficiency.

Viewers will be able to see full coverage of Stolte’s surprise as well as see her receive the keys to her home on the nationally televised special, HGTV Green Home Giveaway 2011, on Saturday, August 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. In addition, they can continue to enjoy a 360-degree virtual tour of the home at HGTV.com/greenhome.
