Purpose:

The purpose of the Arkansas State University Student Research Council is to serve A-State by encouraging student participation in research activities across all academic disciples. The Council organizes and participates in: 1) the university research symposium (Create@State) and related events, 2) professional development initiatives, 3) faculty/student mentoring workshops, and 4) activities to broaden participation in research within the university.

Council members are governed by a structure of elected undergraduate and graduate co-chairs and sub-committees for professional development, special events, communications, and fundraising. The Council is formally advised by the university's research administration office, and works closely with the staff to develop, strengthen, expand and institutionalize student research on campus.

Reasons to Join:

§  To network and build relationships with other students, staff, and faculty interested in research at the university

§  To gain valuable professional and leadership development

§  To inspire other current and incoming students to participate in research at A-State

Membership Requirements:

To be eligible for membership in the A-State Student Research Council, applicants must meet the following requirements:

§  Be a full-time Arkansas State University student

§  Be in good standing with the university

§  Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 (undergraduate) or 3.5 (graduate)

§  Attend monthly meetings

§  Have a desire to promote and learn more about research at A-State
