PHILOSOPHY OF ATHLETICS
At Tri-CountyHigh School it is believed that athletics are an important part of the school’s total education program. It is felt that the experience of participation, whether it is to be active or passive, should be part of each student’s education because of the common interest sports have in our society. The Physical Education Department is responsible for teaching sports appreciation, sports skills, cooperation, fair play and rules of the various athletic events.
At Tri-CountyHigh School, the purpose of athletics is to provide for interested students the opportunity to participate in organized interschool competition. Through this participation, it is hoped that students will be provided with wholesome means for the release of tensions and will gain physical stamina, self-control, and team spirit.
Currently, teams are being developed in cross country, football, basketball, track, baseball, and golf for the boys and volleyball, basketball, golf, softball and track for the girls. In most of these sports, competition will be provided at the varsity, reserve, freshman and junior high levels. It is the hope of each and every teacher and coach that each student who participates in our program will eventually leave with more knowledge and values than he has given
