3 SELECTION CRITERIA

Please address all selection criteria.

1) Commitment to engaging with India and Indian educators.
·  Provide some examples of how your participation may strengthen your capacity to lead and engage your school community with India, at a classroom, school and community level.
2) Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and international exchange
·  Outline your professional learning and experience in international exchange activities to-date and advise how your participation in this activity will support your professional development as a school leader.
3) Capacity to host a visiting Indian school leader for one week at your school including a homestay program in May/June 2011.
·  Advise how the school will host its Indian school leader and outline how the school aims to address any cultural differences that may arise.
4) Commitment to utilising the learning from the study tour including the development of organisational links with Indian schools and Indian educators.
·  Outline any existing sister organisational links your school has overseas including with Indian schools and indicate how participation in the Program will impact on your school’s capacity to build organisational links with Indian schools and Indian educators.

4 PRINCIPAL / SCHOOL LEADER APPLICANT’S STATEMENT

By signing this statement, the school leader applicant agrees that he/she will:

·  travel to India in January 2011 to participate in the two-week study tour (sample itinerary attached) in India, from January 8 – 21 January 2011;

·  pay the balance of costs for their participation in the study tour in January 2011 which is anticipated to be equal to $1700 for land costs (based on twin-share; single supplements available at additional cost of $600 approximately) and cover their own international airfares to/from India (and any domestic connecting flights in Australia);

·  support their Indian counterpart school leader as part the of the exchange program for a one week homestay and school visit program in May/June 2011;

·  complete evaluations and a report on their participation in the Leadership for 21st Century Schools: Australia – India School Leaders Exchange Program; and

·  commit to working with an Indian school leader partner following the Indian school leader’s visit to Australia to develop organisational links and a school partnership.
