Job Title: English Language and British Studies Teacher/Course Leader – China (FIXED TERM CONTRACT 4 months)

Location: based at UWL Beijing China Centre
SUMMARY OF MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The post holder will provide spoken and written English language tuition to Chinese university undergraduates and/or postgraduates in the PRC. The post holder will also be responsible for overall supervision of the English Language Training, IESOL examinations, and Certificate in English Language and British Studies, pre-masters course as necessary. As well as:
·  Lead on delivery of English Foreign Language Teaching
·  Assist with IESOL and ISESOL examinations as necessary
·  Lead on delivery and assessment of UWL’s Certificate in English Language and British Studies pre master’s course as necessary
·  Teach on one or more of the following modules:
o  English Language (double module)
o  English Literature and Theatre
o  British Institutions and Society
o  Government, Law and Commerce
o  Academic Study Skills
·  Liaise as required, with the Chinese partner/s administrative offices including attendance at meetings with the partner and its employees as are necessary to ensure the timely, professional and consistent delivery of English Foreign Language teaching and the CELBS as necessary
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1 / Work with the Head of the Law School, Chinese partner/s and students and deliver English Language Training and, as necessary, the Certificate in English Language and British Studies
2 / Responsible for checking payment of fees and to provide reports on English Language Training, IESOL examinations and the Certificate in English Language and British Studies to UWL
3 / Provide course administration and data to UWL
4 / Provide reports on student progress and performance to UWL
5 / Co-ordinate the delivery of the English Language Training, IESOL examinations and the Certificate in English Language and British Studies with other teaching staff as necessary


PERSON SPECIFICATION

CRITERIA / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Qualifications: / University degree (any discipline)
TEFL or TESOL or CELTA certificate required
OR
Alternatively you must be prepared to undergo a four week training period prior to departure / Completion of relevant academic stage of English language training
Knowledge and Experience: / Experience of teaching English language abroad
Specific Skills: / English spoken as a first language
IT literate
General Skills: / Ability to work as a member of a team with shared goals
Sound judgement and practical problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills; and assured and confident communicator
Other: / You will be required to travel and live overseas for a period of a minimum of four months
An Enhanced DBS Certificate (to be undertaken upon appointment) / Travelled and/or worked in developing countries
