Annual Skiing/Snowboarding Campout
Sundown/Camp Little Cloud
January 24-25, 2009
This month’s campout is the winter sports/skiing campout. On this campout, we will go skiing and snowboarding at Sundown Mountain. We have rented upper/lower Shagbark Cabin at Camp Little Cloud so moms and other family members will be joining us for skiing and to stay overnight. There will be a campout fee of $8 for everyone staying overnight to cover the cost of using the camp. We will meet at St. Mark’s at 7:00 am on Saturday morning.
At Sundown we will rent skis/snowboards. All of the rentals include a ski lesson for all skill levels. It is highly suggested that you go to the lesson, because they will still teach you something. For lunch they have restaurants there, but they are rather expensive so you may want to bring your own lunch.
The alternate activity will be ice fishing at Heritage Pond. We plan to be outside all day ice fishing, although there is the possibility of some ice bowling action over lunch. You will have to bring your own lunch.
AWind Chill Advisory has been issued for tonight and through the middle of the day Saturday as wind chill indices could be as low as -30.You should wear/bring insulated boots, insulated coveralls, a thick parka, hat, gloves, mittens, and dress in layers underneath. You do not need to be wearing it all for the car ride; we do not want you to get all sweaty. Be sure to remember your hat and gloves.
In the evening, we will have a card tournament and some other games. For dinner we will be having pizza and cookies. The bunk room in the cabin will be off limits until 9:00 pm, then available for those who want to sleep.
On Sunday we will eat breakfast at a McDonalds/Burger King so bring money to pay for your own breakfast.
