Please retain these instructions for future reference. These instructions are also available in other formats.

Special warning

The watch comes in sleep mode. Please see the getting started section to activate the watch.

The watch is fitted with a "sleeper", which is a small piece of plastic fitted in between the watch and the winder (crown), which prevents the watch from working, and subsequently the battery from draining while in storage. Remove this before continuing with setting the time on this watch.

This watch is not waterproof.

Please note: This watch has a recessed button to prevent accidental setting changes. Sighted assistance may be required the first time to activate the watch and set it up.

General description

This watch announces the time and date in a clear male, American English voice.

CW215 – Onyx and freshwater pearl bead expanding strap

CW216 – Turquoise and freshwater pearl bead expanding strap

CW221 – Pink leather strap

The casing is gold coloured metal with a stainless steel back, the dial has wide hands for good contrast against the white background and the crown is larger for easier use.

Orientation

Position the watch so that you are looking at the watch face, with the 12 at the top of the watch, and so you can feel 2 protruding rounded shapes on the right hand side.

Along the outer edge of the watch casing on the right hand side at the 2 o’clock position is a button; we will call this S1 for direction purposes. This announces the time, date and is also used for turning the speech on and off. At the 3 o’clock position is a round, metal winder that protrudes out from the rest of the watch; this is the crown and is used to set the watch hands. At the 4 o’clock position is a recessed button; we will call this S2. This is used in conjunction with S1 to set the time, date and the alarm. Use either a ballpoint pen or a pencil to press.

Getting started

To protect the watch face there is a clear plastic film over the dial that can be removed before you start setting the watch.

Setting functions

There are 2 buttons. The first button (S1) used to speak the time and date, is on the top right outer edge at the 2 o’clock position of the watch, above the crown. The second button (S2) used to set the time, date and alarm is below the crown at the 4 o’clock position. This button is recessed so the end of a pen, pencil or something similar may be useful for pressing this. Sighted assistance may be required.

Activating the watch

To activate the watch from sleep mode, press and hold S1 for 5-10 seconds until you hear a series of beeps. The watch will now speak when S1 is pressed. The watch voice is not yet set so will not speak the correct time at this stage. Please see section “Setting the audio” to do this.

Setting the “hand” time

To set the time, pull out the crown and rotate counter-clockwise to set the hour and minute hands to the desired time. Once set, push back the crown to its normal position. The voice does not automatically synchronise with the hands when they are set. Please see the “Setting Functions” section to set the vocal time.

Please note the crown must be turned counter-clockwise as rotating in a clockwise motion can damage the time movement.
