Permissive:

Parents who doesn’t expect much from their children such as maturity, and discipline. They are indulgent parents, who are usually nurturing and loving toward their children.

An example of permissive is the parents doesn’t care what time his or her daughter come home from a party.

Authoritative:

Parents who have high expectations of their children but they are not very strict like authoritarian parenting. They are flexible and fair who allow children to express opinions.

Indifferent:

Parents who doesn’t expect anything out of their children. They have no communication with their children. Usually detached from their child’s life and low responsiveness.

Authoritarian:

Parents who have high expectations of their children and they tends to be very strict. They expect their children to obey their every commands, and rules. They don’t give children choices, or options, and will utilize punishments with or without reason.

Describe the Family Resilience Theory and give an example of the theory.

Family Resilience Theory is a “dynamic process encompassing positive adaptation under adversity” by Luthar et al. The ability to adapt under stress and can be taught by their family surrounding. This shows how important family structure turn out to be for children. Strong family bonds, and communication seems strengthen a child’s life. He/she will be able to face adversity in a more positive way.

Example: A death of the father in a family will pressure the oldest children in the family to step up as the head of the household. He/she will be more responsible and will be able to deal with pressure and adversity in life better than children who doesn’t experience it.
