GANG OF SNATCHERS ALONG WITH RECEIVER OF STOLEN PROPERTY ARRESTED : ONE REVOLVER (32 BORE) WITH THREE LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED AND 7 CASES WORKED OUT

With the arrest of Shamshuddin @ Shamshu (28 years) s/o Deen Mohd. r/o K-628, Mangol Puri, Delhi, Radhey Shyam @ Gabbar (23 years) s/o Sharwan Kumar r/o B-1/2, Sultan Puri, Delhi and Shatrughan @ Shatru (28 years) s/o Bechu Lal Soni r/o M-737, Mangol Puri, Delhi, Special Staff, Outer District has busted a gang of notorious snatchers, recently released on bail and worked out seven cases of M.V. theft and snatching. One Revolver (32 bore) with three live cartridges and three stolen motor cycles recovered.

BRIEF FACTS :

In order to curb the incidents of snatching and MV theft, a special team comprising of Inspr. Puran Pant, SI Surender, ASI Babu Ram, HC Satish, HC Yogesh, HC Suresh, Ct. Hari Chand, Ct. Ramesh, Ct. Rajeev Raghav, Ct. Sandeep, Ct. Virender Negi, Ct. Gajender, Ct. Pawan and Ct. Rakesh was constituted under the close supervision of Shri Ved Prakash, ACP/Operation for developing the information and apprehension of culprits. The team focused on the recently released / bailed out hardcore snatchers and identified certain persons who had been reunited after being released on bail and indulged in commission of snatching and MV theft. The team members started kept on chasing their movements and sources were also deployed to keep check on their every movement.

On 23.10.10 at about 4.30 PM, the team received a specific information regarding assembling of snatchers and receiver of stolen property somewhere in the area of Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi. The team members immediately swung into action and laid a trap near Transport Office, Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi. At about 6.30 PM, Shamshuddin @ Shamshu, Radhey Shyam @ Gabbar and Shatrughan @ Shatru who reached at the spot from different directions on three motor cycles were apprehended by the team. Shamshuddin @ Shamshu tried to take out his revolver but did not succeed as they were overpowered by the team members promptly. (Hero Honda Passion) recovered from Radhey Sham @ Gabber which found to be stolen and wanted in case FIR No. 212/10 U/s 379 IPC PS Vijay VIhar, Delhi and Motor Cycle (Bajaj Discover) recover from Shatrughan @ Shatru which found to be stolen and wanted in case FIR No. 333/10 u/s 379 IPC PS Bindapur, Delhi. One revolver (32 bore) with two live cartridges recovered from Shamshuddin and one live cartridge recovered from Radhey Shyam @ Gabbar. Accordingly, case FIR No. 332/10 U/s 25/54/59 Arms Act, & 411/34 IPC PS K.N. Katju Marg, Delhi was registered and investigation was taken up.

INTERROGATION:

During the course of interrogation, accused Shamshuddin @ Shamshu and Radhey Shyam @ Gabbar disclosed that they had recently released on bail. After being released from jail, they both reunited and contacted one Sunny r/o Uttam Nagar, Delhi, who provided them stolen motor cycles for committing snatchings. They immediately contacted their receiver Shatrughan @ Shatru for disposal of snatched chains and started committing snatchings. They used to snatch gold chains and purse and dispose off the same to Shatru for cash. They have vast criminal background and several cases registered against them in different Police Stations in Delhi. They always carry weapons with them and never hesitate to use the same while facing any resistance.

He is still unmarried. He runs a small utensil shop and receives stolen property. He is previously involved in case FIR No. 371/09 u/s 356/379/ 411 IPC PS Jahangir Puri and FIR No. 42/05 u/s 380/34 IPC PS Lodhi Colony.

GANG OF SNATCHERS / AUTO-LIFTERS BUSTED:

8 CASES WORKED OUT

With the arrest of accused persons namely Shakeel @ Sherni, Ajay Kumar Mandal, Raj Kumar @ Raja and Manoj, the staff of PS South Rohini, has busted a notorious gang of auto-lifters / snatchers and worked out eight cases of snatching / M.V. theft. At their instance four stolen vehicles, robbed gold jewellery and twelve mobile phones have been recovered.

BRIEF FACTS / INCIDENTS:

On 25.10.10 at about 3 PM, a team of PS South Rohini, comprising of SI Ajay Karan Sharma, SI Surender, D-4525, Ct. Inderjeet No. 2125/OD, Ct. Babloo No.676/ OD, Ct. Rajesh No. 1410/OD and Ct. Yogender No. 667/OD under the supervision of Inspr. Vijender Pal, SHO/South Rohini were conducting checking of vehicles by setting up a picket in front of Vardhaman Plaza, Sector-3, Rohini, Delhi. During checking of vehicles, the picket staff signaled two youths to stop who were riding Bajaj Caliber Motorcycle (bearing Registration No. DL8S-Q-7775) and asked to produce the documents related to the ownership of the motorcycle. Instead of producing the documents, they started to make excuses and could not justify the ownership. On suspicion, the status of vehicle was verified from the Zip Net and the same was reported to be stolen from the area of PS Saraswati Vihar and wanted in case FIR No. 176/10 u/s 379 IPC PS Saraswati Vihar, Delhi. Both revealed their identity as Ajay Kumar Mandal s/o Jivach Mandal r/o G-754, Shakurpur J.J. Colony, Delhi and Raj Kumar @ Raja s/o Radhey Shyam r/o H-366, Shakurpur J.J. Colony, Delhi. On search, 2 robbed mobile phones recovered from the possession of Raj Kumar @ Raja and 1 robbed mobile phone and part of robbed gold chain recovered from the possession of Ajay Kumar Mandal. Both accused were taken into police custody u/s 41.1(D) / 102 CrPC and investigation taken up.

INVESTIGATION:

During the course of investigation, two stolen cars were recovered at the instance of accused Ajay Kumar Mandal which were reported to be stolen and wanted in case FIR No. 171/10 and case FIR No. 81/02 PS Prashant Vihar. On enquiry about the part of gold chain, accused Ajay Kumar Mandal disclosed that the same had been snatched by one of their accomplice namely Shakeel @ Sherni r/o Jehangir Puri, Delhi who had given him to sell it and enjoy the money. At their instance, accused Shakeel @ Sherni was arrested from the area of Jehangir Puri and recovered two robbed gold chains and a motor cycle (Hero Honda Passion Plus) bearing Registration No. DL8S-NB-5433 reported to be stolen from the area of PS North Rohini and wanted in case FIR No. 234/10 u/s 379 IPC PS North Rohini, Delhi. He disclosed that these gold chains had been snatched by him alongwith his accomplice Manoj s/o Billoo in the area of area of South Rohini. At the instance of accused Shakeel @ Sherni, his associate Manoj was also apprehended from the area of PS Jehangir Puri and one gold chain snatched in the area of South Rohini was recovered. Raids were also conducted to arrest other accused persons namely Sandeep and Ram Babu r/o Jahangir Puri but they were found absconding. Efforts are on to arrest both the absconding accused and more recoveries are likely to be affected.

INTERROGATION :

During the course of interrogation, accused confessed to have committed large number of snatchings, robberies, auto-lifting, etc. in North West and Outer Delhi. They disclosed that they are fond of wearing branded clothes/shoes and wants to spend luxurious life but they had not source of income to fulfill their requirements of money. Hence, they formed their own gang and started snatching of gold-chains / mobile phones and auto-lifting. Their area of operation has been mostly North-West and Outer Delhi (starting from Jahangir Puri to Rohini and adjoining areas). They further disclosed that their associate namely Sandeep steals and provides them two-wheelers for committing the snatchings which they used to leave abandoned at isolated place after committing the crime. They used to dispose off the booty at cheaper rates and distribute the cash equally.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS :

1.  Shakeel @ Sherni s/o Wahid r/o C-341, Jehangir Puri, Delhi is illiterate. He is still unmarried. He has father, mother, four brothers and one sister in his family. His father is alcoholic and does not look after the family. He is previously involved in the following cases :

(i)  Case FIR No. 321/09 u/s 356/379 IPC P.S Jahangir Puri.

(ii)  Case FIR No. 367/09 u/s 356/379 IPC P.S Jahangir Puri.

(iii)  Case FIR No. 371/09 u/s 356/379 IPC P.S Jahangir Puri.

2.  Ajay Kumar Mandal s/o Jivach Mandal r/o G-754, Shakurpur J.J. Colony, Delhi is a school drop-out. He is still unmarried. He is working in a firm which manufactures tooth-dentures. In the free time, he alongwith his associates commits snatchings. His parents are staying in Jaipur, (Rajasthan). He is previously involved in auto-lifting cases in Jaipur (Rajasthan) including Case FIR No. 92/07 u/s 379 IPC P.S. Kotwali, Jaipur City (Rajasthan). His other involvements are being verified from Rajasthan.

3.  Raj Kumar @ Raja s/o Radhey Shyam r/o H-366, Shakurpur J.J. Colony, Delhi is a school dropout. He is still unmarried. He is a Cab driver by profession. He is previously involved in case FIR No. 165/08 u/s 363/376 IPC P.S. Saraswati Vihar, Delhi. He also commits snatching in free time alongwith his associates.
