There is a $10.00 death assessment due for Brother Donald L. Zani, membership number 698061, who passed away on 4/1/09, and Brother James Metz, membership number 463003, who passed away on 4/18/09.

YEARLY DRUG SCREEN

Mobile Medical will be holding our yearly drug screen update at the Union Hall Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. If you have not had a random test

over the past year, Mobile Medical will notify you of this test.

APPRENTICE COMPETITION

On Saturday, May 16, 2009 Daniel Conn and Richard Taylor represented Iron Workers L.U. 549 in the District Council Apprenticeship Competition in Youngstown, OH. They competed against other Apprentices from Local #3 Pittsburgh, #17 Cleveland, #55 Toledo, #207 Youngstown, and #550 Canton. Congratulations go out to Dan who finished 2nd and Richie who finished 3rd. Dan won the column climb and Richie won the burning competition. They brought home several very nice prizes. They represented Local 549 well and we’re very proud of them.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

A special meeting will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 for the election of officers of Iron Workers Local Union No. 549. Voting will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Union Hall. A May or later dues receipt is required and must be presented to vote. The office will be open for those wishing to purchase dues. Apprentices and/or Honorary Members are not permitted to vote. The polls will close at 7:00 p.m. sharp and only those members in line will be permitted to vote.

CHICKEN ROAST

A chicken roast will be held in conjunction with the Election of Officers June 12, 2009. Refreshments will also be provided. The chickens should be ready by 1:00 p.m.
