The Coleman Community School District is seeking applicants for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The Coleman Community School District is a small, rural district on the western edge of Midland County with easy access to US 10. The district has maintained a student count of approximately 700 students and has an anticipated fund balance of 20% for the 2016-2017 school year. The Coleman Community is very supportive of the district as evidencedby the passing of a two mill bond in November 2014 allowing for the enhancement of facilities during the summer of 2015. The Coleman Regional AgriScience Center is housed on the district campus and is attended by students from Clare, Gladwin and Midland Counties.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will possess the following experiences and characteristics:
§ At least a master’s degree from an accredited institution of learning.
§ Possess, or be willing to obtain, certification in school administration by the Michigan Department of Education.
§ Places children first and has a passion for educating all children to achieve their full potential.
§ A “people person” with strong communication skills; speaking, writing and listening, who listens to all sides of an issue before making decisions
§ Someone who values and supports a wide range of programs and offerings in academics, the arts, and athletics.
§ Highly energetic and actively engaged, involved and accessible in the schools and the community.
§ Able to relate to all groups within the staff and community.
§ The leadership skills necessary to work with staff and to hold staff accountable to high standards and expectations.
§ An educational leader who understands and supports education at all levels, understands best practices, state and federal initiatives.
§ Proven success as a teacher and administrator.
§ Knowledge and experience in school finance and revenue enhancement.
§ A person who exhibits integrity, trust, character, honesty and compassion.
§ A history of collaborative working relationships; a team player and team builder with an understanding of the collective bargaining process.
§ A visionary leader with the ability to create a shared vision among all stakeholders.
§ Understands, supports and utilizes technology in the educational process.
§ Experience in or knowledge of rural school districts.

Salary and Contract
The Board will offer a multi-year contract. Salary will be competitive with other school districts in the region and will include a competitive benefits package. Final contract details will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
