Project Development Manager – PALAVA: youth music project

Description

PALAVA is a collaborative youth music project, using lyric writing and music production to engage at risk young people in Lambeth. It is delivered in partnership with Ovalhouse, Class of Poets, Flames Radio and Young People Matter, and overseen by The Hyde Foundation (Hyde’s Community Development Team). It consists of twice weekly lyric writing and recording sessions run by experienced facilitators and musicians.

Terms & Conditions

  • Freelance fee £140p/day
  • 1 day a week for 12 months

(preferably starting July)

  • Working at Ovalhouse, SE11. Some working from home is negotiable.
  • Reporting to Ovalhouse Executive Producer. Working closely with freelance delivery partners (see description) and Partnership Manager from The Hyde Group (Housing Association)

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeingpartner delivery of twice weekly sessions
  • Initiating and managing new progression opportunities for participants (eg. work experience at radio station, accreditations, professionals coming into sessions)
  • Producing Communications to raise profile of the project (social media, press releases, photos/videos)
  • Designing and managing three-four Live Shows and coordinating delivery partner involvement
  • Collating monthly monitoring requirements
  • Managing project budget spend
  • Attending quarterly project update meetings with the Hyde Foundation and other partners

Other responsibilities

  • Recruiting and supervising volunteers to support sessions and shows
  • Setting up digital platform to share existing Demos – or supporting a young participant to do this
  • Contacting prospective project ambassadors (recording artists, songwriters, DJs)
  • Supporting delivery partners to ensure safeguarding procedures are up to date

Person Specification

  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work independently and take the initiative
  • Ability to develop relationships and work collaboratively with multiple external partners
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Creative
  • Experience of working in the youth or participatory arts sector
  • Experience of managing a project budget
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel and Outlook packages
  • Experience of working in the creative industries, particularly music (desirable)
