Project Outline for Bountiful Conservation

Project Purpose

Increase public awareness about Colorado products and services from conserved lands. Educate the public on land conservation.

History

Bountiful Conservation was developed to help farmers and ranchers that have conserved their land, sell their products and services. The second edition was printed in January 2010 and we needed help in figuring what the next step was. This last spring we had a group of students try to increase profitability for the landowners in directory, by creating a partnership with local restaurants. We found out that creating these relationships was very difficult and near impossible. The public does not understand what land conservation is and therefore does not demand that local restaurants serve products from conserved land. The students found that “If the consumer, a.k.a. the community, is unaware of the point of Bountiful Conservation then no one can benefit.” We would like to build off of what the students found and educate the public about Bountiful Conservation and what it represents.
