Cann Algebra 2H Expectations 2012-2013
I. SUPPLIES
Required: Algebra 2 text, Paper, Ruler, Pencils/Pens, Folders (or Binder), Calculator
Recommended: TI-83 or TI-84 Graphing Calculator
II. PARTICIPATION AND PREPAREDNESS
Participation: You are expected to participate in class on a regular basis and be prepared to go to the board at any time.
You should come to class prepared and ready to learn. You should be respectful to ALL individuals. You should have pride in yourself and your school. **Note- Please do not bring food or drink into the classroom without checking with me first. Water is ok.**
Notebooks: Notebooks should have sections for class notes, completed homework, and all returned tests and quizzes.
Homework: Homework is assigned daily and checked 10 times per quarter at random. Each homework checked counts
as one point on your quarter average. Homework must be done neatly and completely to receive full credit. Students
who are absent will have the same amount of time to make up the missing homework as the students who were not absent.
Homework reinforces the skills you learn in class. In addition to given assignments, I suggest you put aside some time for
math every night to establish a good work ethic. Homework may be collected and graded as a quiz without prior notice.
Plan to correct your homework from the previous night during class. Sometimes I will grade your corrections for
accuracy. Students who receive FULL CREDIT on all HW in any given marking period will have the opportunity to drop
their lowest TEST grade.
III. ATTENDANCE
You are responsible for all work missed due to absence (field trip, illness, college visit, etc). You should complete any or all of the following:
· communicate with your teacher via phone/email
· check eChalk for assignments and tcann.wikispaces.com for class notes
· complete necessary homework and assignments
· schedule make-up quiz/test/etc. (prior to absence)
Be aware that if an assignment is due the day that you are absent, you must have it completed the day you return.
Example: You are in class on Monday and homework is assigned. You are absent Tuesday and homework is checked. Wednesday you will need to approach me with your completed homework.
IV. QUARTER GRADES
Tests: 60% Quizzes: 30% HW: 10%
V. FINAL COURSE GRADE
Q1: 22% Q2: 22% Q3: 22% Q4: 22% Midterm Exam: 6% Final Exam: 6%
