Club Triumph

The Border Raiders

Organised by

Pendle & Pennine Area

Saturday August 4th and Sunday August 5th 2018

The Border Raiders is a non-competitive, touring assembly run over approximately400 miles and held entirely in daylight over two days for Triumph classic cars primarily although other cars may be used.

There is no timing to be adhered to as the emphasis is on fun and enjoying your car on spectacular roads in the company of like-minded enthusiasts. There are no map references to be plotted, no complicated route instructions to be followed, you are given the route “on the day” and it is advisory, not compulsory.

The entry fee is £25 and includes the route instructions, event identification plates incorporating car numbers and awards for “Car of the event” as well as “Spirit of the event”. Your other expenses are petrol, food, and your hotel accommodation in the Scottish border although you may also wish to add hotel stays at the start and finish to make the weekend even more relaxed and sociable.

As usual with Club Triumph events we are able to achieve this low entry fee as any officials will also be taking part and have paid their entry fee. In addition, there is not an endless amount of official opening cars and there are no marshals who require overnight accommodation to be paid for out of your entry fee. There is no sweeper car as we expect you to be able to get you and your car from the start at Kelbrook Lancashire and take part without external assistance other than the usual Club Triumph help from other entrants.

On this – remember, bonnet up and it is in the spirit of the event that others stop to offer assistance. A car at the side of the road with its bonnet down means all is well and the crew are no doubt having a brew or admiring the views.

Saturday August 4th will see us leave the Old Stone Trough, Kelbrook at 10.00am and will have us working our way through the Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland into Scotland before ending the day in the borders late afternoon. Stops for food etc on the way are “stops of opportunity” such as the Garden Centre some of us used on last year's run.

The end of the day's driving should be late afternoon giving us plenty of time for an evening of food, tall tales and general socialising.

Sunday will see us returning to the Holiday Inn Express in York via a route taking in Hadrian's Wall country, Teesdale and the Yorkshire Dales again. We reserve the right to amend the route from this brief description to make sure we find the best most scenic roads we can. Those same “stops of opportunity” are where food and drink may be taken but there should be time to stop and take in the sights in the lovely countryside and picturesque towns too.

We will use mainly quiet A or B class and unclassified roads where you can enjoy your car and the superb scenery.
