This week we will be having our class winter party. Only those parents who are responsible for hosting the party are to attend the class party. Siblings are not to attend the class party.

The North Carolina School Report Card will be sent home with students on Thursday, December 17th in their Thursday folders. Please see the attached letters from Mrs. Newsome and Ann Clark for details concerning the NC School Report Cards.

Additions to the McKee Road Family
This fall, Mr. Lundgren and a team of staff members have hired several staff members to join our school family. Please join us in welcoming the following individuals to our team:
Deborah Bell: Ms. Bell is the school’s Senior Financial Secretary. Prior to joining McKee Road, she was a school secretary in Rochester, New York before moving to Charlotte and working for seventeen years in the CMS central office for Exceptional Children as an Administrative Secretary. She joined our team at the end of September.
Joanne Butcher: Ms. Butcher joins our team as a teacher assistant. She provides reading instruction to small groups of students in grades 1, 2, and 4. She also provides support to our teachers in 4th and 5th grade. She is a former teacher having taught 1st, 4th and 5th grades. She also joined our team in November.
Aenoy Phommavongsay: Ms. Phommavongsay is a second grade teacher. Ms. Phommavongsay, also known as Ms. P, joins our family from River Gate Elementary here in Charlotte. Ms. P has twelve years of experience in CMS. During these 12 years, she has been a classroom teacher (K & 1), a reading teacher, and a Dean of Students. She has two children that have joined our school family as well. Ms. P joined our team in November.
Yvonne Turner: Ms. Turner is a certified teacher and joins our team as a teacher assistant. Daily she provides reading instruction to small groups of students. She also is a support for our third grade team. She has been involved in our school for many years as her children are current or former McKee Road students. Ms. Turner also joined our team in November.
Tanya Van Heusden: Ms. Van Heusden is a first grade teacher. Ms. Van Heusden taught second grade for over ten years in Orlando, Florida prior to moving to Charlotte. Upon arriving in Charlotte, she became a substitute teacher and then took a position as a Kindergarten teacher. Ms. Van Heusden joined McKee Road in November.
ISC To Host Jump Fundraiser During Winter Break
Girls on the Run - Spring 2016
We are looking for volunteer coaches for Girls on the Run at McKee in the spring. This program is for 3rd - 5th grade girls and meets after school (2:45 - 4:15) on Tuesdays and Thursdays (February through May). If you might be interested in being a head coach or an assistant coach, please contact Ericka Ficker at ditional information about the Girls on the Run program and coaching can be found at
Lost and Found
Any items in Lost & Found not claimed by Friday, December 18th, will be donated to a deserving charity over the break. We have a variety of items including: hats, coats, lunchbags, etc. If your child has lost an item, please have him/her come by Lost & Found, located just inside the cafeteria, for a look!
