At the Institute of Education, 20 Bedford Way, LondonWC1H 0AL

This two day course is suitable for teachers and teaching assistants of all key stages,

governors and senior management. It is also available for whole staff training.

Philosophy for Children (P4C) is a powerful methodology for developing children's thinking skills and exploring challenging subject matter. It can also improve self-esteem, self-confidence and emotional literacy and create a more caring and cooperative classroom environment, empowering children to take control of their learning.

It is particularly relevant in Education for Global Citizenship, helping pupils to widen their area of concern and deepen their understanding of difficult issues.

The course will address these core questions:

1. What makes questioning philosophical & how can such questioning improve teaching & learning?

2. What is a Community of Philosophical Enquiry?

3. How to facilitate enquiry and dialogue

4. How to develop a Community of Enquiry / Thinking Classroom, including evaluating progress

“The course I attended was fantastic - hugely inspirational and great to have
