ARTICLEI- NAME

Theofficial nameof thisorganizationshallbetheRavens of CarletonUniversity, hereafterreferred toastheCompetitiveSportClub.

ARTICLEII-PURPOSE

2.1Mission:

TheCompetitiveSportClubshallactwiththefollowingmission:Promotionoftheacademicdevelopment andsportparticipation ofstudent-athletes that wanttopursuecompetitivesportactivity duringtheir studiesat Carleton University.

2.2Goals:

TheOrganizationshallwork towardsreachingthesespecifics goals:

- Offeringan affordableandcompetitiveprogram

- Promotingethical,respectfulandexemplarysports behaviours

- Developingcompetitiveopportunities

-Increasing andencouragingalarge numberofstudent-athletesinthesport inthecompetitivesport club

ARTICLEIII-MEMBERSHIP

Any undergraduateorgraduateregisteredstudentatCarletonUniversity,fulltimeor part time canbea memberof aCompetitiveSportClub. The CompetitiveSportClubProgramshallnotdiscriminateagainst anyoneon thebasisofrace,religion,sexualorientation,women,Aboriginalpeoples;personswithdisabilities,and membersofvisibleminorities.

ARTICLEIV- MEETINGS

4.1AnnualGeneral Meeting:

TheAGMistobe heldinSeptembereveryyear,an approximatedateiscommunicated nolater than30 daysbeforetoall pre-registered members. Thedate,time andlocation shallbe confirmed within aweek ofthemeeting.

4.2Ordinary meetings:

The president/coachshallsetthe date,timeand location for ordinarymeetings. Ordinarymeetingsare setonceeverymonth duringacademicschoolyear.MeetingswilltakeplaceatCarletonUniversityin a roomprovided bytheinstitutionschool.Meetingsshouldnotlast morethan2hours.

4.3Extraordinary meetings:

Duringtheyear,meetings areorganized asneededanduponrequest of at least2members,with the sameconditions asfor thein-schoolyearmonthlymeetings inarticle4.2. Each demand foraspecial meetingmust beaccompaniedby awrittenrequestoutliningthepurposeof themeeting.The president/coachof theCompetitiveSportCluband/or theCompetitive ClubCoordinatorof Recreation andAthletics may callspecialmeetings.

ARTICLEV –EXECUTIVECOMMITTEE

A. Theexecutive committeeof theCompetitiveSportClubshallconsistof nolessthan 3clubmembers:

1. President/coach

2. Treasurer

3. Appointed Executive Committeemember

B. Theexecutive committeecouldalso consistofany otherexecutivepositions.

C. TheClubs CommissionerofRecreationandAthletics willserveastheadvisorandasex-officio memberin anon-votingcapacity.

5.1Dutiesofexecutivecommittee

Thedutiesof theexecutivecommittee shallbe:

- Tocreatetheobjectives,goalsandvisionforthe competitive club

-Toensure that thecompetitivesportcluboperatesin amanner that benefitstheclubandworks towardstheaccomplishment of thecompetitivesport clubsgoals

- Toensurerespectof theconstitution and codeof conduct,

-Tobringforward andtakethenecessary action if thereisanIntentionaldisregardofanydirection, instruction oftheinstitution,orof thesportspecific regulations,abreachofthecodeof conduct and/ora clubmemberacts inamanner,whichadverselyaffectsthereputationof theUniversity.

- Support andpromotetheactivitiesof the competitivesportclubinordertogrow membership

Preparetheannual clubplans and budget forapproval bytheJCCSC

5.1.1. ThePresidentshall:

- Review financialstatements withtheFinanceExecutive/Treasurer

- Review goalsandoversee performance/work of otherexecutives

- Executetheclubplan tofollowtheset competitivesportclubdirection

- Planforexpansion and/orreductionof theteamanddevelopment of policiesandprocedures

- Promotethe teamand betheprimary representativeof the competitivesport club

-Leadtheplanningandorganization allregularmeetings, andAnnualGeneral Meetingsandchair thosemeetings. Mayissueacallforanyspecial meetingsthathe orshedeemsnecessaryor required under theConstitution

- Replacetheexecutivemember whohasmissedoneormoremeetingwithout avalidreason

- Responsiblefortheproduction ofregularcommittee reports

- Initiateandpromote fundraisingactivities,

- Ensure therespectandadherencetocodeof conduct by all clubmembers

- EnsureproperelectionproceduresfortheExecutivepositionsaccordingtotheclub’sconstitution

-WorkwithintheapprovedbudgetandensureallexpensesreceiveapprovaloftheExecutive committee

- Actasliaison betweentheclubandCarletonUniversity administration

5.1.2. TheTreasurershall:

- Be thesignatureonbehalfof the competitiveclub

- Trackrevenueandexpensesandreconcilethe budget on aquarterly andyearly basis

- Collectrevenuesfrommembers,depositthemintheclub’sbankaccountandissuefinancial

statements

- Provideyearlyfinancialresultsandbank statementstoDepartmentofRecreation andAthletics.

- Communicatefinancialinformationandstatementsuponrequest of aclubs’commissioner.

- Upholdandpromote thegoodwillof theCompetitivesport clubin thecommunity.

-EnsureallchequesandexpensesaresignedbytheAssistantDirectorofDepartmentordesignate ofRecreationandAthletics.

- Ensure that allexpensesareapprovedby theclub

ARTICLEVI- FUNDS

6.1Management

TheRecreationandAthletics Departmentwillmanageallactivitiesthatarerelated toCompetitive Sport ClubProgram.TheAssistant Directorof Recreationwillbeoneof thesignatorieson all transactions. Bank accounts mustbeoperatedintheon-campus Scotiabank Branch.Nooff-campus checkingaccounts willbe permitted.

6.2Grants

TheJointCommitteeof CompetitiveSports Clubs(JCCSC)funds grants towards competitive clubs. Additionalmoneytosupport thegoalsof the clubmay beraisedthrough fundraisingthatmustbe approvedby theClubs CommissionerofRecreationandAthletics.

6.3Fundraising

Allfundraisingandsponsorship needstobeapprovedbytheClubs Commissionerof CompetitiveSport Club. Allmonies brought in through fundraising,sponsorship,dues,etc. mustbedepositedintothe club’s on-campus accountwithin48 hoursafter collected.

ARTICLEVII-AMENDMENTS

Allamendmentsto theConstitution shallbeby atwo-thirdsvoteof theJointCommittee of Competitive

SportsClub(JCCSC).

ARTICLEVIII-CONDUCT

- Allmembers shallupholdandpromote thegoodwillof the Competitivesport club;

-Thehealthandsafetyof all participants isparamount andthe clubmustactwith thisinmindat all times;

- Membersshallat alltimesadheretoalltherulesandregulations asset forthinsportspecific

regulations inwhichgovernsthe clubparticipation,thebylaws of thisconstitution,the Carleton

University rulesandregulationsandthe CUSAconstitution.

-Any memberwhoseconduct isdeemedadetriment to theinterestsof theCompetitivesport clubwillbesubjecttoaninvestigationanddisciplinary procedures inwithzerotolerance; Sanctions formisconduct rangefromletterofreprimandto fullsuspensions of anindividualor team.

-Allmembers shallreport any safety infractions, ruleviolations, suspicionsandirregularitiesto theexecutivecommittee

- Toacthonestly,in good faith,anddoingnothingtoviolatethetrustof othermembers
