Office of Diversity and Inclusion Education Abroad Scholarship

Program Application for May 2014 to Spring 2015

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion, as part of its mission to facilitate international learning opportunities for Ohio State undergraduate students, will provide financial support up to $2,000 per student recipient. Special consideration will be given to ODI Scholars and students who are going abroad for the first time.

Eligibility:

  1. Recipients must be enrolled undergraduate students during the semester of travel.
  2. Recipients must be participating in an OSU-approved educational abroad program managed through the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
  3. Recipients must have completed three quarters of study at The Ohio State University by thetime the program begins.The equivalent of junior standing is required for undergraduate transfer students.
  4. Recipients must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  5. NOTE: Applicants provided with financial support who do not enroll in their study abroad program will forfeit the scholarship.

Application Materials:

  1. ODI Education Abroad Application Form.
  2. A two-page statement that includes information about how the study abroad or service programspeaks to the applicant’s academic and career interests.
  3. Completed OIA Budget Worksheet.
  4. An Ohio State Advising Report which is available from the applicant’s college office or online at
  5. A reference letter from an instructor that addresses the applicant’s ability to complete the Education Abroad Program.Recommender should email the letter to .

Please Note:

In countries under a current Department of State Travel Warning ( undergraduate students cannot use scholarship awards for study abroad programs and/or individual international projects outside of venues approved by Ohio State.

Ohio State students traveling to international locations for the purpose of undergraduate research, internships, or independent study which is part of their academic program, are required to enroll in the university’s Supplemental Study Abroad Health Insurance which is provided through HTH Worldwide. The supplemental insurance includes coverage for emergency assistance, evacuation, and repatriation. The coverage is available through the Office of International Affairs.
