THE “U” MEANS UNDER (U‐10 MEANS UNDER 10). WHAT LEVEL YOU WILL PLAY ON WILL
DEPEND ON YOUR KIDS' BIRTHDATES. WHATEVER THE AGE IS AFTER AUG 1 AND BEFORE JULY 31,
THIS WILL DETERMINE THE AGE GROUP THAT THEY WILL PLAY IN.
EXAMPLE: IF THE PLAYER’S BIRTH DATE IS AUG 1 (OR AFTER) AND THEY TURN 9, THEN THEY WOULD
BE PLAYING UNDER 9 FOR THE SEASON. IF THE PLAYER’S BIRTH DATE IS JULY 31 OR BEFORE AND
THEY TURN 9 THEN THEY WOULD BE PLAYING in the UNDER 10 AGE GROUP FOR THE SEASON.

AGE GROUP. A PARENT WOULD NEED TO FILL OUT THE PLAY‐UP REQUEST FORM AND SUBMIT TO
THE BOARD FOR APPROVAL BEFORE TEAM FORMATIONS TAKE PLACE.
CAN MY CHILD PLAY WITH HIS FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR?
THE BAYTOWNSAINTS FORMS ITS RECREATIONAL TEAMS BASED ON A BLIND DRAFT. THE
COMPETITIVE TEAMS IN OUR LEAGUE ARE FORMED BY COACHES EVALUATING PLAYER TALENT AT
OUR CLUB TRY OUTS. FROM THERE, THE COACH(ES) THEN SELECT THEIR TEAM BASED ON TALENT
AND PLAYER AVAILABILITY. THAT BEING SAID, IF THERE IS ONLY ONE TEAM IN A DIVISION, THEN
THAT REQUEST SHOULD BE HONORED. HOWEVER, IF THERE ARE MORE THAN ONE TEAM IN A
DIVISIONTHAT REQUEST MAY NOT BE ABLE TO BE ACCOMMODATED.
WHAT DO THE DIFFERENT DIVISIONS MEAN?
DIVISION IV – ALL PLAYERS U10 AND UNDER PLAY D4. DIVISION IV IS ENTIRELY RECREATIONAL
SOCCER. PLAYERS MUST BE 4 YEARS OLD ON JULY31, 2009 TO PLAY IN THE FALL OR SPRING.
RECREATIONAL TEAMS “RED” OR DIVISION III DO NOT REQUIRE TRYOUTS. “RED” soccer TEAMS
PLAY MATCHES WITH OTHER CLUB TEAMS IN THE BAY AREA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION
(BAYSA) AND GENERALLY FOLLOW A FORMAT SIMILAR TO THE TEAMS THAT THE PAYERS
WERE ON AS U10 AGE GROUP. PLAYERS DO NOT HAVE TO TRY‐OUT TO BE ON A “RED”TEAM.
DIVISION II “BLUE” IS A COMPETITIVE LEVEL OF SOCCER. DIVISION II SOCCER TEAMS COMPETE
WITH OTHER CLUB TEAMS IN THE BAY AREA YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION (BAYSA) PROGRAM.
PLAYERS MUST TRYOUT TO EARN A POSITION ON DIVISION II TEAMS. TRAINING IS A PART OF
DIVISION II AND MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL FEES – DEPENDING ON THE TEAM. TEAMS DO NOT
HAVE TO QUALIFY TO PLAY IN THE BAYSA DIVISION II PROGRAM. PLAYING TIME (50% PER GAME)
