Warrior Feature returns with Tezan from Series 6. This week we will be reviewing The Gorge in Challenge Feature. There will also be a poem about Nisab from Series 7!
I am also very lucky to have received a contribution from Laura – a quiz that separates the Raven fans from the wannabes! Check it out! This is alongside a warrior wordsearch that I have made!
Enjoy the second chapter of Alaunus, where we discover what is happening to Raven and Erina.
We reveal the result from The Big Debate with some of your comments on what you prefer.
And one of the most awaited things of all – the interview with Hanso! She has agreed to be interviewed exclusively for The Raven’s Eye! Many thanks to her for that!
And of course there are a few extra delights thrown in like Raven Warrior Talk and the usual Warrior Vote. So enjoy!
I would again like to mention Jake Collins and his ‘The Eye Shield’ fanzine, which is based around the kids’ game show Knightmare! A lot of his ideas for parts of his fanzine have inspired me in creating The Raven’s Eye, so thanks a lot to Jake. The Eye Shield can be viewed at
So get reading, and enjoy!

About Tezan
Tezan was a warrior from Series 6 that ended up 4th in the Raven tournament! Tezan is a popular warrior that definitely proved her worth! She showed great skills in her week, although she spent a lot of it just behind Nejad in the leaderboard. However, she beat Nejad to the portal to go through to the final week. Near the beginning of the final week, Tezan showed great promise and looked like a strong contender for the staff of power. Unfortunately, she had a bad Day 4 in the final week, which caused her to leave the competition.

CHALLENGE feature – THE GORGE
This month, we will look at The Gorge, from Series 7.
Description
The two leading warriors participate in The Gorge. The leading warrior is in the gorge; a kind of tunnel in the ground, and the second-placed warrior is above the gorge.
The leading warrior had to describe the symbol in the gorge to the second-placed warrior. The second-placed warrior had three symbols in front of them, with a ring in one of them. Then, they had to pass a container down for the leading warrior to fill with water. The second-placed warrior then had to pour the water in the skulls with the symbols on to gain the ring. This happens three times throughout the challenge.
The warrior in the gorge also has to climb a waterfall halfway through the challenge! All this, and then they have to avoid the demon chasing them through the gorge!
Great moments
Sonos and Lipra from Week 3, who struggled in the challenge. I don’t know if you can call it a ‘great’ moment but it was certainly memorable! They kept getting the symbols wrong but still managed to win the challenge in the end!
What do I think?
The Gorge was a great challenge in essentials. It was like Dwarf Mine but better because it had the added elements of climbing the waterfall, collecting the water etc. The fact that a demon chased them also made the whole thing much more intense! However, I think that the challenge was far too easy in the original weeks. Sonos and Lipra still managed to win after getting the wrong symbols wrong lots of times! Then the challenge was made harder for the final week, in which the warriors failed. It would be a great challenge to bring back for Series 8, if they set the difficulty level just right.
POETRY CORNER – NISAB
In Battle of the Boats, Nisab had an aim,
Although she tried her hardest, fifth she came,
In Spider’s Web to Lisan she lost,
A precious life was the cost,
Then, not feeling confident at all,
In Long Staff, she took a fall,
In Demon Army, Versad lost his aim,
This cost Nisab – what a shame!
Reducing her tally of lives to six,
This she would have to fix,
In Battle of the Boats, she was a great guide,
She earned a ring that she could pride,
Then in Loch Leap she missed the rings,
She didn’t take off with her wings!
Then in Battering Ram, her team were too slow,
Nisab suffering yet another blow,
Way of the Warrior – the challenge next,
Nisab to face it – she felt vexed!
She tried her hardest but fell off the beam,
The challenge was over – and so was her dream.

Alaunus – chapter 2 – HARYad’s cave
Raven and Erina looked down at the blue spirit. It seemed quite at home in the dank cave.
“Sorry?” Erina asked cautiously – she had been warned of some of the evil spirits that rested in caves like this.
“I said what are you doing in my cave?” the blue spirit asked.
“This was a bad idea, why did you make me do this?” Erina whispered to Raven as the blue spirit moved around the cave.
“We were just exploring,” Erina finally replied.
“Well you’ve smudged my wall drawings!”
Erina and Raven looked to the wall opposite and noticed old-fashioned cave-drawings. Indeed, as they had walked into the cave the drawings had been smudged.
“We are very sorry about this,” Erina said. Raven remained very quiet about the matter, “is there anything we can do for you as an apology?”
“In fact there is! There is a leaf in the fortress that will return me to my former human self. Return the leaf to me and I will be human once more!”
“How did you become a spirit?” Erina asked. Raven seemed to be studying the drawings on the cave wall.
“One long sad day ago,” Haryad replied. “I got in a row with demons on a foreign island and look what they did to me!”
“That’s awful!” Erina replied, “we’ll do our best to find this leaf for you!”
Erina and Raven left the cave discussing what had happened.
“It seems important to this creature that he is returned to his former self.” Erina said.
“I am intrigued by the cave drawings,” Raven said, “they could tell us a lot about this so-called spirit. Things on this island are not always what they seem.”
“I think we should get the creature the leaf – it is important that we give him a full apology.”
“No, I reckon that we should visit Cyrus and see what he has to say about the cave drawings. This leaf could be a trap!”
“It’s only a fortress, Raven!” Erina was starting to get angry now, “no-one lives there, why would it be a trap?”
“You have to watch out for things like this, Erina,” Raven replied, “sometimes things are not what they seem.”
Raven was proved correct as a demon jumped from behind a tree and held its arms out right at Raven and Erina. They tripped backwards as the demon approached, getting closer, closer…
“Run, Erina!” Raven called. They were only teenagers, they couldn’t handle this! They must get help!
See if Raven and Erina escape the demon next time in Alaunus…

The big debate
Raven: the island or raven: the secret temple?
The result
Here is the result of The Big Debate – Raven: The Island v Raven: The Secret Temple. I will give you comments from the voters and then the final result!
People that prefer Raven: The Island:
This is what Laura (warriorOfRavenRox from H2G2) said about the matter:
- “My vote is for Raven: The Island” because I thought that the costumes were more medieval, and the setting fitted the story best. I think that the story was more believable, and the fact that Nevar ‘came back to life’ didn’t please me. Also I think that the whole quest of The Island seemed more real as if you were eliminated you couldn’t be brought back – just like real life really. However, I still liked The Secret Temple.
People that prefer Raven: The Secret Temple:
This is what Jake (darkpath from Raven Forum) had to say:
- “What I didn’t like about Raven: The Island was all the endless, pointless chat between Haryad and Erina, neither of whom interacted with the warriors at all. It was good in The Secret Temple that Raven and Satyarani talked to the warriors and told them what to do, as well as discussing their feelings about the challenges. Although they had their fair share of pointless chat as well! We saw a lot more of Raven in The Secret Temple too, which is good. I also liked the challenges of Secret Temple more, particularly in the first three weeks – there were some really good ones like the archery and the battlefields.”
This is what Rosey had to say:
- “Even though I enjoyed watching The Island, I can make quite a long list of things I didn't like about it. Princess Erina never interacting with the teams grated on me a little bit. It was also very obvious that each team was going to exactly the same place, sometimes more than once each (like those rocks they had to climb up one day, and down another), but they were supposed to be going over different parts of the island to meet in the middle. I don't mind suspending disbelief when watching TV - especially a fantasy show likeRaven - but that was a bit much. Also, to be completely eliminated for even the smallest mistake seemed very harsh. There was a lot of importance placed on the time pieces, and towards the final week I remember Erina and Haryad going, 'Oh, they've got twenty-something, will that be enough?' 'Ooh... er... yeah, should be enough.' Then they ended up with about twelve, andweren't evenallowed to put them all in the device anyway - it was taking too long so they sent in some demons to scare them off - and then they were allowed about three episodes to do what they had to do. Also, they were supposed to have a minute per timepiece, weren't they? Whilst there does appear to be some point to the timepieces, in the end, it's quite obvious that there reallyisn't. In Secret Temple, to say that the jewels are just to measure the warriors' success seems better to me than making up a purpose for them that doesn't even really happen; and the option to bring back fallen warriors once was an improvement, I think. It was good to have Raven there with the warriors, rather than just doing scripted scenes with Cyrus to fill in time (like he did on The Island), and I thought he had a good dynamic with Satyarani - who, of course, got to interact with the warriors, unlike Erina. Also, Satyarani didn't actually come and try to present Raven - it was in her realm. So I think it worked very well. I enjoyed the first three weeks more than the final one,in whichthe strongest warriors were being picked off in challenges that involvednothing butluck. To see Taylan, in my opinion the strongest warrior, get eliminated forpointing atthe one basket with a snake in it was just terrible. So I do have some problems with the final week, but overall I thought it was a vast improvement on The Island.
