Objective
· To generate awareness of YOUR CLUB and Lions International
· To leverage awareness by building goodwill in the community
· To increase press coverage
· To increase fund raising and generate membership
Strategy
· Determine specific contacts with key local editors and provide editors with YOUR CLUB/Lions Int. brochure/Info
· Provide media alerts for fund raising activities and list events on community calendars
· Develop interview/photo opportunities
· Look for human-interest community outreach opportunities
Implementation
Create awareness
· Encourage members to wear the Lions pin on suits, coats, scarves, etc. out in public
· Have opportunities to pick up bumper stickers, brochures and other merchandise at every meeting.
· Participate in non-Lion community events such as 4th of July parades, Habitat for Humanity builds,etc.
· Look into updating the website to include a photo gallery
Generate press coverage
· Initial media contact should include the year-end report and brochure on YOUR CLUB
· All events posted to online community calendars will be submitted to the community editors of local newspapers
· Human-interest press releases to editorial director’s desk
· Present photo opportunities
