MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
You will be responsible to the Sports Manager (Aqua School) for the effective supervision and operation of Wales National Pool Swansea’s (WNPS) Aqua School. You will be responsible for the efficient economic delivery of staffing, services and resources in order to fulfil the requirements of WNPS’s Aqua School and any other relevant programmes, ensuring that the highest standards of customer care are met.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
1. To provide ongoing supervision, mentoring and training of the Aqua School team members, to ensure that all programmes are delivered effectively and safely, according to WNPS and ASA learn to swim schemes, across all WNPS target markets.
2. To be responsible for ensuring that all teachers create generic schemes of work and lesson plans for every stage of the NPTS whilst assessing to correct ASA standards.
3. To provide contingency teaching cover and general admin support within the Aqua School structure and to carry out the duties of other Aqua School team members, in the event of absence, holiday or illness, where necessary.
4. To assist with the recruitment and contracting of Aqua School team members.
5. To be responsible for liaising with WNPS team members, ensuring that hygiene and safety levels are maintained and to ensure that regular safety & hygiene checks of all equipment are completed and recorded.
6. To deputise for the Sports Manager (Aqua School), as and when appropriate and required.
7. To assist in attaining pre-agreed annual financial targets.
8. To generate, monitor and evaluate user and financial reports.
9. To manage the administration and re-enrolment of the Aqua School programme and where necessary assist with customer bookings.
10. To assist in the ongoing promotion and development of the Aqua School, Education and Facility programme.
11. Work closely with external partners to ensure that the WNPS programme and marketing opportunities are delivered to full potential.
12. To assist with the development of an Education centre in a range of disciplines.
13. To undertake discretionary areas of responsibility and/or specific projects as may be required and agreed, occasionally by the Sports Manager (Aqua School).
14. To be responsible for responding to customer care issues within the Aqua School.
15. To undertake the personal Health and Safety responsibilities within the HASAWA Act 1974.
16. To ensure that Wales National Pool Swansea is operated in accordance with all current Health & Safety Legislation and recommendations, e.g. HASAWA, 1974; COSHH; RIDDOR.
17. To assist in the development of Managerial Initiatives, e.g. Investors in People, Management Charter Initiative, Performance Management and Appraisal, Continuous Professional Development, etc.
18. To ensure that all activities are operated in accordance with Equal Opportunities’ Legislation and the Wales National Pool Equal Opportunities Policy.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / Candidates will need to be prepared to work “out of hours” according to the needs of the Aqua School. Aqua School operates seven days a week and weekend working will be required each month.

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), an Executive Agency of the Home Office, provides wider access to criminal record information through its Disclosure service.
